May might very well be our favourite month of 2022. Other than an extra long weekend thanks to Labour Day and Hari Raya Puasa being back to back, there’s also a public holiday mid-month on Vesak Day. Some of you are taking this opportunity to go on short weekend trips (check out this gorgeous vintage train from Singapore to Bangkok!), but as for the rest of us, here are 18 new things to do in May 2022 in Singapore for a well-deserved break.
Read on for things to do in May 2022 in Singapore!

Karaoke outings are back in session, and there’s no better place to sing your heart out than at K.STAR Karaoke’s brand new Plaza Singapura outlet. While this is the third K.STAR outlet in Singapore thus far, it offers a whole unique experience from the other two, with a psychedelic galaxy theme that’s simply out of this world.

There’s a whole slew of room themes here, with designs inspired by disco clubs, anime, and carnivals. Check out the special Panorama Rooms with 360-degree wall projection screens that display different animations based on the song you’ve picked!

#2: Snap pretty shots at the first floral-themed self photo booth in Singapore

This is part of a limited-time special that will be running only till the end of May, after which the backdrop will revert to the usual white one. Though it’s meant to be for Mother’s Day, you can also feel free to head down with your besties or your partner for some flower power fun.

#3: Chill out with a drive-in cinema night + free burgers
Photo from Downtown East (adapted by GirlStyle Singapore)
Kick it back old school with a classic drive-in movie night at Pasir Ris, where you’ll be catching Marvel hit Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings under the stars - happening for one night only.
Admission is an affordable $25 per car, which works out to just $6.25 per person if you come in a group of 4, which is the maximum number of persons allowed. On that note, it is recommended to come in a group of up to 3 persons for the best unblocked viewing experience. While that would result in fewer people to divide the cost with, it’ll set you back just slightly over $8 per person, which is still very reasonable.
Two free burgers from Ministry Of Burgers, along with two free drinks will be included. Additional burger + drink sets can be purchased at $7 each, and you can also top up a little for extra snacks like cotton candy and popcorn.

Love dogs, but aren’t allowed to have your own or simply don’t have the resources and time to care for one? You can still have your dose of cuddles and playtime with a furriend thanks to Furpal, a pet “borrowing” service in Singapore.
How it works is that you first browse various doggy profiles on their website with descriptions on their personalities and temperament, before selecting one to go on a furdate with in the presence of the owner - usually at their home or a public space in the vicinity.

Through these sessions, you’ll get one-on-one interaction with a tame doggo while getting to learn more about pet care from its hoomans.

Instead of simply hiding your imperfections, Drewperspectives will bring out your best through clever usage of lighting and shadows - allowing you to gain a new sense of self-confidence.

For one weekend only, the now-defunct Pasir Panjang Power Station will be converted into a massive pop-up cinema, with a club-like atmosphere with colourful neon lights.

#18: Have a romantic couple shoot at themed studio, Pitega Spaces
Photo from Pitega Spaces
Away from erratic weather and photobombs is Pitega Spaces, a relatively new themed photography studio. While it’s available for rent for all sorts of purposes, including corporate shoots, we think it’s especially perfect for dreamy styled couple photoshoots.
Photo from Pitega Spaces
On top of romantic floral, magic forest, and boho chic zones, there’s also a photogenic pantry corner with cosy vibes. The fact that it’s already pre-decorated so extensively means you’ll save a couple hundred bucks or even a 4-digit sum of money, as you won’t have to hire an external styling vendor to get photos on fleek.
Photo from Pitega Spaces
What’s more, prices are affordable and your hours can be split over multiple dates, so nothing has to go to waste even if you’ve overestimated the time required for your shoot.
