Ogrejoyed: 'Shrek 5' Confirmed For 2026 With Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, And Cameron Diaz Returning
The new Shrek movie is no longer far far away; it's confirmed to be released in 2026, just in time for the 25th anniversary of the first Shrek film.
While the details about the storyline is still under wraps, Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz will return as Shrek, Donkey, and Princess Fiona.

In the 2001 original, Shrek and Donkey set out to rescue Princess Fiona from a tower guarded by a dragon. The story took a turn when Fiona revealed she turned into an ogre at night, a change that stayed after she fell in love with Shrek.

Returning to produce is Gina Shay, joined by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri, with Brad Ableson as co-director.

The sequel Shrek 2 made an impressive $928 million worldwide. Shrek the Third and Shrek Forever After followed with $813 million and $752 million, respectively. The Puss in Boots spinoffs also did well at the box office, earning $555 million and $484 million.
Back in June, Eddie Murphy revealed to Collider that there will not only be a Shrek 5 but also a Donkey spin-off movie. "We started doing Shrek 4 or [Shrek] 5 months ago. I did this, I recorded the first act, and we'll be doing it this year, we’ll finish it up. Shrek is coming out, and Donkey's gonna have his own movie. We're gonna do Donkey as well. So we're gonna do a Shrek, and we're doing a Donkey [movie]," said Eddie.
We can't wait for 2026 already!
