Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake Set Video Reveals First Look

After facing several setbacks during production, a new video from the set of the Lilo & Stitch remake gives us our first peek at the beloved Disney characters in live-action, complete with an adorable stand-in. Based on the 2002 animated film of the same name, the live-action adaptation will follow the story of a young girl named Lilo and her older sister as their lives are turned upside down by the arrival of the dog-like alien, Stitch.

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, known for his work on Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, the movie will feature both new and returning stars, including Chris Sanders as Stitch, Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Agudong as Nani, Billy Magnussen as Pleakley, Zach Galifianakis will voice Jumba, Tia Carrere, the original voice of Nani, will return in a new role as Mrs. Kekoa, Kaipo Dudoit as David Kawena, Courtney B. Vance as Cobra Bubbles, and more.

TikTok user @paulinapullara posted a video from the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake, giving a first look at the live-action version of alien Stitch. The video shows crew members working on a street in Hawaii, setting up a scene where the young girl and alien drive around in a convertible car. It also reveals the first look at Kealoha as Lilo, with an adorable stand-in representing Stitch in the driver's seat. Check out the video below:

The Lilo & Stitch remake faced several challenges during its development and production. Initially set to start filming in April 2023, the schedule was delayed from March of the same year. However, production came to a halt indefinitely after a fire broke out in a trailer on set, prompting an investigation into the cause. Although filming resumed in May, ongoing strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America led to another suspension of production.

The release date for the live-action Lilo & Stitch has yet to be announced. Stay tuned for more updates!
