If you’re spending 9 August brunching, shopping, and hunting down fireworks spots, make sure to add one more (very special) stop to your itinerary: Singapore Odyssea at the National Museum of Singapore. This new exhibit is permanent and here to stay, but as a treat for SG60, admission will be completely free for all visitors on National Day!

Plus, you can pick up an RFID wristband to activate your own ‘magical companion’ inspired by native wildlife, and let it guide you through gorgeous visuals and interactive storytelling zones that trace Singapore’s evolution from fishing village to global port city.
Timed entry keeps things comfy and crowd-controlled, so be sure to book your slot early. Can’t make it on 9 August? Admission is free for all from 7pm-midnight during the Singapore Night Festival (last admission at 11pm).
4. Singapop! 60 Years of Singapore Pop Culture

Grew up on kaya toast, Phua Chu Kang, and the bunch of old but gold NDP songs you still secretly know by heart? SingaPop! is your cultural time capsule come to life! Curated by homegrown musician Dick Lee, this immersive exhibition at the ArtScience Museum celebrates six decades of Singapore’s pop culture, from kopi-shop slang and vintage fashion to film, music, and everyday magic.

Told through five vibrant chapters with fun names like ‘SingaWho?’ and ‘Rojakland’, SingaPop! captures the unique blend of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian and other influences that shaped our shared identity — what Dick Lee affectionately calls the “rojak spirit.” It’s a love letter to the people, places, and pop moments that defined us and made us uniquely Singaporean.

Expect all the nostalgia: old-school hawker centre vibes, iconic movie posters, throwback National Day Parade moments, and enough retro music to make you want to dance. It’s joyful, proud and a little emotional, in the best way!

Back in full bloom just in time for SG60, Orchid Extravaganza is the Gardens by the Bay floral display that pays tribute to Singapore’s heritage with a very pretty twist.
