Cherin Sim, a Marquage Artist caught our attention with her unique artistry and business concept. With her distinct services/skills, she is unparalleled to none. That's precisely why she thrives.

She started two years ago, painting bold pop art and cartoons on expensive luxury bags like Hermes and LV, amongst others. While this was considered shocking and blasphemous for some, (almost akin to graffiti) the trend continued to catch on and today, she has a huge client base and loyal following.

These 'customised' bags are great for people who want to maintain a sense of individuality and to have their personal mark stamped on their bags.

*This is mine. This is my bag. I am so cool. You mere mortals can just watch me in envy*

Since everyone else on the street is carrying  a Louis Vuitton bag, it's far too common. Obsolete right? What better to stand out from the crowd by having a cooler-than-cool bag that's uniquely your own?

She now has her own line of bespoke leather goods and her own regular customers.

She gets almost 5 to 10 customers a month, asking her to customise their leather bags or wallets.  #fancy #maybecrazyrichasians.

That Hermes, probably worth more then the Gross Domestic Product of a Third World Nation, does look pretty neat with the addition of the bold pop-art design. (though I would probably cry if I even got the slightest scratch on a bag worth that much money!)  #crazypoorasians

Some of the (justified) fears that customers initially had was that their bags would look "too cheap" or childish after painting cartoon characters/pop art on them.

However Cherin disagrees, because this is one way of making your leather goods distinctive and different from the rest. It's an art form.

Every customer will have a unique custom-made design, tailored to their likings. She never does the same thing twice, so you will never have to fear bumping into someone who has the same design as you!

Though we aren't certain if we would have the audacity (or courage) to subject our expensive leather goods to such a process, but that Doraemon though.

So cute.

Though my heart does ache a little watching paint get onto that crazy-expensive Goyard, which I could probably never even be able to afford even if I starved myself for two months.

What are your thoughts?

Yay or Nay?

Would you take your luxurious leather goods up to the next level through these colourful pop-art creations?
