4 New Afternoon Teas In August Ft. Homegrown Icons From Janice Wong To By Invite Only
Everyone deserves a day to relax and feel pampered, and there's no better way to do so than with a spot of afternoon tea! This season's menus feature local flavours in celebration of SG60, alongside a chocolate-centred set.
Here are four new afternoon teas to indulge in this August, with some available through October:
#1 Janice Wong x The Rose Veranda Afternoon Tea at Shangri-La Singapore

A match made in confectionery heaven, Shangri-La Singapore and homegrown chocolatier Janice Wong have teamed up to create an exquisite afternoon tea that impresses from the very first bite to the last.
It begins with warm scones, including a unique Lemon Chia Seed Scone, paired with Vanilla Mascarpone Cream, Kaya and Pineapple Jam. Then comes a tray of six petite savoury treats that reimagine local flavours with an elevated edge, from Kaya Foie Gras to a smoked Chicken Floss Roulade.
For the main course, a crowd-pleaser to go for is the Char-grilled Beef Short Rib. The beef is as tender as ever, but the dish is now given an Asian twist with 5 Spice Yam Fritter and a subtly spicy Kecap Manis Glaze.

Other tempting options for mains include Deep Fried Crispy Seabass, Nyonya Spiced Grilled Chicken Roulade, and Crispy Taro Fritter.
The finale is the sweets tray, where Janice Wong's artistry shines! It comes with a quartet of beautiful desserts with satisfyingly well-balanced flavours and contrasting textures. The Pandan Gula Melaka Cake has two flower-shaped custards - mascarpone cheese and coffee - giving it the novelty of two cakes in one, as well as fragrant hints of coconut and an earthy pistachio sponge base to round it up. Next, the Exotic Fruit Symphony has a perfect mix of tanginess from dragon fruit, passionfruit and raspberry with the richness of mascarpone cheese and coconut dacquoise. Meanwhile, the Pulut Hitam Mochi looks too pretty to eat with an intricate orchid-shaped pulut hitam cream atop chewy mochi filled with fresh cream and a surprise centre. Finally, there's Nostalgia, an Opera cake that's reminiscent of kopi o, but bougie.

The afternoon tea also comes with a choice of SG60 beverage including the White Orchid Oolong and Bandung Latte.

Chocoholics, your moment is here! The Lobby Lounge at Conrad Singapore Marina Bay has refreshed its afternoon tea with decadent, chocolatey goodness. Both sweets and savouries are crafted with five Valrhona blends - Dulcey, Komuntu, Caraïbe, Manjari, and Ivory - through layered textures and inventive pairings.
The afternoon tea starts off with a playful welcome drink, a chocolate-vanilla milkshake crowned with cotton candy, chocolate sticks, and skittles.
Soon after that, the cascading tower of cocoa-imbued treats will arrive. Savoury creations include a Guanaja Marbled Foie Gras Terrine blended with 70% Guanaja and finished with cherry glaze; a crispy Pancetta Croquette with chocolate drizzle; and Toasted Dates dusted in Valrhona powder and coconut.

While the savouries are delicious, the desserts are where the chocolate bliss takes off! Standouts include a Dulcey Exotic Marmalade Tart with mango-banana marmalade on vanilla pâte sablée; the realistic-looking Cocoa Pod that tastes even better than it looks; and the Ivory Chocolate Cake with a classic combination of sea salt caramel, vanilla sponge, and almond crunch.

There's some theatrics too! The Chocolate Espuma with vanilla cherry pudding is served encased with in a smoke-filled glass dome, releasing an aromatic swirl as it's released.
Completing the afternoon tea affair is a TWG tea or Bacha coffee pairing.

The Marmalade Pantry's hearty afternoon tea just got even more comforting with hawker favours reimagined as dainty tea-time treats.
The Beef Rendang Waffle has the bold, spicy aroma of traditional rendang, but with an elegant twist thanks to crispy and fluffy waffles accented by a dash of lime aioli and shiso cress. The Laksa Yong Tau Pok has the same shiok factor of the OG dish, but comes in a fun fried tau pok format filled with creamy laksa seafood and finished with lychee chutney and alfalfa. Another authentic yet vibrant reimagination of local cuisine is the Yuzu Fruits Rojak, which combines a sweet-sour yuzu-soy dressing with fresh fruit, crushed roasted peanuts, and a sprinkle of homemade ginger flower powder.
For a palate cleanser between these rich flavours, there are afternoon tea classics including the Chicken Cranberry Sandwich, Cucumber and Dill Cheese Sandwich, and homemade Scones with cream, berry jam, and ginger yuzu marmalade.
