Netflix first announced in September 2024 that Emily in Paris would return for Season 5. The wait is almost over as the new season arrives on 18 December! The first-look photos are already giving us major wanderlust, showing Emily (Lily Collins) enjoying life in Venice, Italy for part of the season.
Season 5 summary reads:
“Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city. But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities.”

But don’t worry, Emily isn’t saying goodbye to Paris. Creator Darren Star explained that the story isn’t moving fully to Rome. “She didn’t change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She works in Rome sometimes because Sylvie’s company has an office there. Emily is helping get that office running, but Paris is still home,” he said following Season 4.
