FREE Entry: Floral Installation In Singapore Has Supersized Red Poppies That Might Be Taller Than You
Amidst the heavy showers happening almost every afternoon, it looks like spring has blossomed in Singapore - and we’re not just talking about those pink sakura-esque Trumpet Flowers. Tucked away in Changi Chapel & Museum is an installation of giant red poppies, supersized to the point of being taller than some humans. Entry is free!

Changi Chapel & Museum is one of the less-frequented museums in Singapore, simply because of its hard-to-reach location away from the cluster of other galleries and arts houses in town. If you’re still due for a visit to this recently-revamped attraction, here’s one reason why you should head down: A free-entry pop-up with giant poppies that are great as a photo backdrop.

Created by Pei-Per Flower, a local artist who specialises in flowers made out of paper and fabric, these giant poppies are more than just a pretty sight - they’re also a symbol of respect for those who sacrificed themselves in war. Specifically in this context, these towering floral installations were handcrafted in tribute to those who were detained in Changi Prison during the Japanese Occupation.

The poppies are scattered across the compound in various forms, from as standalone floral stalks to floral walls. While you’re there, try your hand at crafting your own DIY felt poppy, write a message to pin to your flower, and attach it to Chapel’s flourishing wall of dedications. Or, take your creation home to gift to a loved one, or keep it as a bookmark!
