The trailer gives a glimpse into the touching and dramatic journey of Clara, played by McKenna Grace, and her mother Morgan, played by Allison Williams. The two are trying to cope with the sudden deaths of Morgan’s sister, Jenny, and her husband, Chris, who were also Clara’s aunt and father. Willa Fitzgerald and Scott Eastwood take on the roles of the late characters, who died in a tragic car crash.

“Life can have a funny way of surprising you,” Clara says in a voiceover. “My mom got pregnant with me when she was 18. She and my dad were high school sweethearts.”
She adds, “My Aunt Jenny also ended up with her high school boyfriend. I thought we would be one big happy family forever. But the universe had other plans.”
As Clara and Morgan struggle with their grief, another painful truth begins to surface. Morgan and Jonah, Jenny’s husband (played by Dave Franco), start to suspect that their late partners may have been having an affair. Morgan wants to protect Clara from the truth, but Jonah believes she deserves to know.

At the same time, the bond between Clara and Morgan becomes more strained. Things get even more complicated when Clara gets close to Miller, played by Mason Thames, a classmate she calls “the coolest guy in school.” As Miller helps Clara cope with the loss, Morgan worries that her daughter may repeat some of her own choices.
