Singapore’s First Upside Down Cafe Has Topsy-Turvy Photo Ops, $10 Brunch, & Ipoh White Coffee
Almost every new cafe in Singapore these days comes with a theme of sorts, whether it’s minimalist, floral, or with a special colour scheme like pink - such is dining in the era of social media, where simply everything has to be a 'grammable experience of sorts. But if the typical pretty establishments aren’t up your alley and you're after something quirky instead, you’ll love USD Cafe - the first upside down cafe in Singapore full of topsy-turvy photo opportunities.
Read on to find out more about USD Cafe, the upside down cafe in Singapore!

Very much like the famous Upside Down House Melaka across the border, Singapore’s USD Cafe will turn your world upside down - quite literally - with its furnishing arranged the “wrong” side up. Even the entrance of the cafe is designed to look like it’s upside down, with the door, window, logo, and even the TraceTogether QR code facing the other way.

Stepping in is indeed quite the trippy experience, as you’ll encounter paintings, tables and chairs, and an entire bar counter hanging “upside down”. How this works is that these fixtures are attached to the ceiling, and patrons are supposed to rotate their photos 180 degrees after snapping them to create that gravity-defying photo illusion.

Confused? Below is an example, whereby the top half of the photo shows how everything looks in real life, while the bottom half is the flipped version. Play with poses and stretch your arms out to emphasise the fact that you’re “floating”!

Of course, there are tables and chairs for customers to sit and dine comfortably, facing the right way up. So don’t worry, your experience here won’t involve some sort of newfangled special media food challenge. Hmm, that’s an idea, though...

The selection of mains here is small, but affordable, and reasonably-portioned. Prices start from just $10 for You Are My Sunshine (pictured below), a fluffy sunny side up egg sprinkled with herbs and laid on a piece of grain toast. The Avocado Sour Cream Toast ($12) and Japan Skipjack Tuna Flakes Toast ($12) are equally hearty options.

What USD Cafe really specialises in is their Ipoh white coffee, made modern with multiple variations such as Matcha White Coffee, Osmanthus White Coffee, and even Coconut White Coffee - all priced at $7.50 per cup.

Those who can do without the caffeine can opt for the refreshing Passionfruit Juice ($7.50) or Lychee Rose Sparkling drink.

There’s traditional Kaya Toast and a small range of light cakes too - something to consider if you’re here for an afternoon tea break rather than a full meal.
