Crazy cat lady who loves afternoon tea, kawaii Japanese fashion, and all things Sanrio.

Parklane Shopping Mall isn’t the sort of place a gal would typically hit up for a casual hang with her friends. Notorious for its siam dius, dubious-looking massage parlours, and lup sup KTVs, this old, gritty shopping complex obviously caters to a vastly different sort of clientele than the average cafe-loving chick who loves centering outings around photo ops for Instagram.

Yet, this is exactly the next spot you should hit up if you fit that profile, for beyond the smoke and sleaze hides a whimsical little secret that is Sweetish Dessert 有点甜 - a new all-pink cafe with affordable desserts from $3, including a bubble tea “hotpot” that’s perfect for sharing.

While other pink cafes in Singapore like YTEA and La Fez have chosen to go with softer shades, Sweetish Dessert (有点甜) is unapologetically splashed in the most vibrant permutations of the colour - in the best way possible. While there are some pastels here and there, the main focal points from the feature walls to velvety chairs are all in a visually-arresting hot pink.

Rows of circus-style bulb lights and neon signages with phrases like “Fall in love” create a fun, carnival-like vibe, while teal booth seats and white terrazzo flooring help provide some balance. On the seats are a bunch of fluffy unicorn plush toys, which you are free to use as photo props. If you’re coming as a pair, you can also consider the royal-looking gold “birdcage” chairs.

While waiting for your food, hop on over to the bubble dome swing chair framed by pink plants and suspended pink spheres! This isn’t an actual seat for dining - it was specially installed just so that patrons can have fun hamming it up for the camera. Yup, they know us well.

On the menu are over 60 varieties of both hot and cold desserts, starting from affordable prices of just $3 for Cheng Teng. Fans of the king of fruits will love the Durian Mousse ($5.50), else there are less pungent items like Papaya Stewed Milk ($4.50) and Mango Sago with Pomelo ($4.80). Also of note is their Shaved Ice ($6 - $6.50), in 6 flavours including Strawberry and Purple Potato. Something like that could easily cost you twice as much elsewhere!

Bubble tea maniacs who love all things chewy should go straight for the Milk Tea Ice Pot ($15.90), which is basically a steamboat pot of 7 popular beverage toppings - namely boba pearls, yam mochi, pudding, red bean, mango chunks, nata de coco, and grass jelly - served with a jug of milk tea. Portions are great for sharing in groups of up to 4, depending on how much you’d like to keep for yourself!

Don’t miss out on their Coconut Milk Mochi Slam ($4.50 - $5), an ooey gooey mousse-like dessert that we’d describe as mochi in liquid form. Topped with ingredients like pudding, yam, red bean, and chewy balls, It’s made in-house and has a thick enough consistency for that “mochi pull” - very much like stringy cheese pulls that often get us salivating. You’ll just have to head down to experience it for yourself to see what we mean!

Do note that they only serve desserts and don’t have beverages. All things considered, there are more than enough thirst-quenchers on the menu that you probably won’t even be thinking of drinks anyway.

Sweetish Dessert is so new that it doesn’t even have a telephone number, website, or Instagram geotag listed at time of writing, but rest assured they’re fully operational right now. Head down while the 2 pax dining restrictions are still in place before it starts getting crowded!
