39-Year-Old Yan Kay Kay Is Expecting Second Child With Husband Who’s 11 Years Younger
Singaporean influencer Yan Kay Kay (Yan Qi Hua) surprised fans last year when she revealed a series of steamy maternity photos at the age of 38, shortly after getting married to then-boyfriend Brandon Loh - who happens to be 11 years younger than her. Since then, she’s been enjoying her family life with her now-husband and baby boy Aesop, while hustling as a businesswoman.
Just a few days ago, Kay Kay and Brandon broke the news of their second pregnancy in a gender reveal via Instagram - and the whole event was a real rollercoaster, to say the least!
Read on to find out more about Yan Kay Kay & Brandon Loh’s second pregnancy!

Yan Kay Kay’s first pregnancy was a hot talking point among netizens for a number of reasons: The fact that it came just a couple of months after her wedding and her age of 38 years were some of them. Many were also shocked by how her husband Brandon was just a fresh-faced 20-something - more than a decade younger than her.

But love knows no bounds, and with couples getting married later on in life, it’s not all that uncommon to hear of women giving birth in their mid or even late thirties. Seeing as how the couple have adapted well to parenthood, with baby Aesop healthy and happy, their second pregnancy comes as less of a surprise.

A cheeky hint in the form of a product launch was posted a week prior to the pregnancy announcement; On 1 June, the couple debuted Baby Mama Mentai, a smaller version of a mentaiko sauce spread that’s being sold on their curated food business, Orient Ocean. The regular-sized versions of the item were placed alongside the mini ones - almost like a family shot.

Brandon’s Instagram caption read “Welcome to the family”, while Kay Kay’s was “Not spelling things out today. Official launch of Baby Mama Mentai tomorrow. ?” Very subtle, but judging from the barrage of congratulatory comments, many of their friends and fans were either already in the know, or sharp enough to catch the hint.

Brandon also took to Kay Kay’s post to comment, “???? or ????? ?” - emojis depicting a family of 4 with 2 boys, and 1 girl and 1 boy respectively. Kay Kay simply replied, “Mentaiko sauce does not identify as any gender.” LOL, we love us some cute couple interaction!

Hopping onto the gender reveal trend, the couple chose not to know the gender of their second child at the gynae, and instead decided to find out through a cake. According to Kay Kay’s post, the gender reveal cake was planned by food blogger Ladyironchef (Brad Lau), and wife Melody Yap.

But this wasn’t any regular gender reveal cake that involved cutting out a slice of cake to reveal either a pink or blue interior. In Kay Kay’s words, this was an “absolute roller-coaster of emotions” that involved pulling out a long strip of coloured paper and tons of suspense.
Upon first pull, the coloured strip was seen to be blue, but turns out, this was alternated with pink for quite a significant length. At one point, Brandon even wondered whether they were having twins!

Finally, the paper ended with a long strip of pink - revealing that the couple are having a baby girl! Part of Kay Kay’s post featuring the video read, “My heart was pounding so hard my ears were ringing…” while Brandon’s said “Dreams do come true.” Aww.

Hilariously, amidst all the excited screaming towards the end, little Aesop burst out wailing, presumably bothered by all the noise. Nope, the little guy just wasn’t having it! “You don’t want [a] sister?” a tickled Brandon asks while comforting their firstborn.

Well, Aesop is probably too young to understand what was going on at the moment, but we’re sure he’ll take on the role of big brother amazingly especially with all the love his parents will continue to give him. We wish Kay Kay and Brandon a smooth pregnancy ahead, and can’t wait to eventually find out the name of their daughter and see her newborn photos!
