28-year-old Dutch artist Donald Schenkel is best known for lucid oil paintings that explore the relationship between colours and how they behave when interacting with one another.

Each colour combination behaves differently. While some blend easily, others resist. From the artist's point of view, darker colours give the illusion that they are receding into the distance while lighter colours would make one feel as if they are moving towards them.
