The teaser opens at WSQK 94.5 FM, a radio station that seems to play a key role this season. Set photos from earlier hinted at this location. “Burn commencing”, says Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) over the radio. The group could be using this station to stay connected during the chaos. Then a dramatic orchestral version of Deep Purple’s 1970 song “Child in Time”.

The official synopsis for Stranger Things 5 Reads:

“Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”

In the teaser, someone wrote “Burn in hell” in red on Eddie’s grave. This message likely connects to the Satanic panic of the 1980s and shows that people in Hawkins still blame him for what happened. Meanwhile, Max (Sadie Sink) remains in a coma at the hospital, with Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) by her side, and Linda Hamilton makes her appearance as Dr. Kay.

Dustin appears infected with some kind of substance from the Upside Down. One scene shows him hugging Steve (Joe Keery).

Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) seems to be hiding in a water tank with her daughter Holly Wheeler (Nell Fisher), while a massive military base surrounds one of the gates to the Upside Down. Elsewhere, Hopper (David Harbour) tells Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), “Wherever this blood leads, I need you to fight one last time. Let’s end this, kid”.

The last shot reveals Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), who looks more terrifying than ever, saying, “Found you”.

Stranger Things is produced by 21 Laps Entertainment and Upside Down Pictures, with The Duffer Brothers as executive producers, alongside Shawn Levy of 21 Laps Entertainment and Dan Cohen.

Stranger Things 5 premieres with Volume 1 (Episodes 1-4) on 26 November, followed by Volume 2 (Episodes 5-7) on Christmas, and the Finale (Episode 8) on New Year’s Eve. Watch the teaser below:
