Bask In 'Old Money' Vibes At Farrer Horse, An Equestrian-Themed Restaurant & Bar With Romantic Loft Seating
Horse racing might be coming to an end in Singapore, but you can still have a li'l taste of this lifestyle at Farrer Horse. This equestrian-themed restaurant & bar first opened its doors in late 2022, and has since revamped their menu with new offerings.
Set across two floors in The Sultan, a shophouse-style hotel, Farrer Horse oozes grand, 'old money' charm. On the ground floor is the swanky yet cosy Dining Room that's decorated with a warm colour palette and peppered with tasteful horse motifs.

Upstairs is Stable, a bar that perfectly encapsulates the spirit of the racecourse's heyday. It boasts high ceilings, arched windows and an ornate chandelier creating a stately ambience.

There's even a romantic loft furnished with plush lounge chairs - perfect for date nights or boozy catch-up sessions with the besties.

The menu is also racehorse-inspired, but not to worry, this theming manifests only through the names and stories behind the dishes and drinks, with horse-riding terms like 'chukka' and 'grandstand' thrown in.
The food itself has nothing to do with horses, thankfully, but fuses flavours from different cuisines, which resulted in hits and misses. Some of the appetisers that worked were the refreshing Shrimp Cocktail ($20) with a piquant cocktail sauce and Chukka Tenders ($18) which packed a satisfying spicy punch.

Mains include the crowd-favourite Signature Lamb Lolipop ($34) which is a good choice even for those who usually find lamb too gamey, and the Chicken Chettinad Pizza ($26).

The cocktails ($18 - $24) were the standout of the meal. Firm Apples ($18) was a delight with its unique yet well-balanced mix of Courvoisier, apple, vanilla and ginger ale. Another one worth trying is So French ($20, an aromatic concoction made with sour apple mix and Prosecco.

The service was rather awkward and spotty, but the gorgeous decor and out-of-Singapore ambience made up for it. Food wise, Farrer Horse does Indian flavours best and everything is surprisingly well-priced considering the upscale location and interiors.
If you're itching for a unique bougie dining experience or looking to impress a date, this is the place to be.
