The colored brow trend is a fun and creative way to add a pop of color to your face, and it’s more wearable than you might think. #1: How to choose the right colour

When it comes to choosing a color for your brows, you want to pick a shade that complements your skin tone and hair color. If your skin has warm undertones, you might want to try a reddish-brown shade. Conversely, if you have cool undertones, then you can get something in a cooler shade to match.

If it’s your first time trying this trend, you can test the waters by trying a more natural-looking tint in ashy colours - these go great with Asian features.

Those who are feeling adventurous can go all out with a bold, statement-making colour. Feminine shades of pink and purple are a good choice for ladies, as these are easily matched with clothes and the other components of one’s makeup.

#2: Where to get coloured eyebrow products in Singapore

These days, eyebrow tints and eyebrow gels are found in all sorts of hues aside from the regular black or dark brown, and these can range from reddish brown to blonde and ash green. The Etude Color My Brows ($12.15) range is one to look out for, for a selection of coloured brow mascaras that are noticeable without looking too unnatural.

It’ll be a bit tougher searching for brow gels in funky hues like blue or yellow, but if all else fails, you can always substitute with a coloured mascara or eyeshadow, which are easier to find. One brand that has a good lineup of coloured mascaras from hince, a relatively new Korean beauty brand  that recently made its way to Singapore.

#3: Prep your brows to allow the colour to stand out

Before applying any colored brow mascara or brow power, make sure your eyebrows are clean and oil-free so that the pigments can go on properly. If your natural brows are dark, apply some loose powder or eye makeup primer first, so as to create a base that’ll let the coloured pigments stand out more boldly.

You’ll also want to work with a well-shaped canvas, as messy eyebrows will only result in an unpolished look, made even more obvious by the colours. If you need help with brow grooming, check out our article on eyebrow shaping tips that are suitable for beginners.

#4: Apply sparingly, building up as you go along

Heavy-handed application can result in overdone brows, and this is something you’d want to avoid especially when dealing with more prominent colours. Start off by applying a small amount of product to your brows in feathery strokes, and then build up the color gradually until you achieve the desired effect. Be patient and don’t jump the gun!

#5: Keep the rest of your makeup simple

When rocking a bold brow color, it's best to keep the rest of your makeup simple for balance. This will help your colored brows remain the star of the show, and prevent your other features from looking overwhelmed. Once you've applied your colored brow product, make sure you comb or brush the color evenly through your brows for a blended finish.

#6: Set your brows to prevent smudging

Once you've applied the colored brow mascara or powder to your eyebrows, use a clear brow gel to set them in place. This will help keep the color in place and prevent smudging throughout the day. If you’re worried about the brow gel interfering with the product, then a simple spritz of makeup setting spray will do the trick.

#7: Don’t be afraid to experiment with multiple shades at once

Makeup is all about having fun and expressing yourself, so don't be afraid to get creative and experiment with different looks! If you’re feeling confident enough, you can even blend two or more shades together in a gradient - and top it off with some glitter for good measure!
