New Pompompurin-Themed Hotel Rooms Now Open For Booking In 2 Popular Japanese Cities, Comes With Free Merch
It looks like hotel chain Mitsui Garden Hotels has been paying close attention to the annual Sanrio Character Ranking, ‘cause they’ve come up with a series of themed hotel rooms based around a crowd favourite. No, it’s not Hello Kitty; This cute character collaboration is themed after Pompompurin the goldie, who clinched second place not just in Japan, but globally as well.
Available at both their Hokkaido (Sapporo) and Tokyo (Ginza) branches as of late March 2023, these Pompompurin-themed hotel rooms come in a total of 3 designs, with a generous pile of official Sanrio merchandise as free souvenirs.

Try not to get your appetite worked up - the Pompompurin Sweets Party Room is full of yummy-looking dessert illustrations incorporated with the characters’ faces! Among the whimsical motifs of marshmallows, parfaits, and chocolate, you’ll also spot a handful of Macaroon cake pops and Pompompurin cupcakes and donuts, among other quirky candy renditions of the Sanrio critters. Even the cushions are made to look like macarons!

Designed to look like a little cottage, the Pompompurin Hide and Seek Room is more gender-neutral, and features the golden retriever playing hide and seek with Macaroon, Muffin, Bagel, Scone, and more! Spot them hiding amidst the furniture and blending in with everyday household objects like teapots and clocks.

Dreaming Pompompurin Room

The Dreaming Pompompurin Room (Yumemiru Pompompurin Room) is a Tokyo-exclusive, and cannot be found at the Sapporo branch. This one shows Pompompurin and friends in a carefree dreamland as they frolic about amidst flowers, go on hot air balloon adventures, and have garden picnic get-togethers.
With the walls here mainly in a sweet lilac hue, this room is decidedly the most feminine out of the three. The flatscreen TV comes framed with a fun carnival tent design, and the bed cushions are shaped like stars. Look up and you’ll see Pompompurin and his other animal buddies floating about amidst even more colourful stars.

Each guest will receive the following 7 Pompompurin-themed souvenirs:
- Plushie
- Tumbler
- Pin
- Hand towel
- Fluffy Socks
- Stickers
- Tote bag

Apart from the plushies which remain constant throughout, the items in each set will vary to match the room you’ve picked.
Note: Free gifts will only be given to each paying guest; Children who are co-sleeping with their parents for free will not be entitled to additional Pompompurin merchandise sets.
