Tokyo’s New Starbucks Is In A Greenhouse With Flowers & 8-Metre Aquarium, First Of Its Kind In Japan
Starbucks in Japan is famous for their pretty merchandise - especially their sakura-themed collections during springtime. That aside, many of their outlets are also worthy of oohs and aahs. The newest one is inside an actual greenhouse, and it even has its own aquarium.
Part of Hana Biyori, a flower gallery within Yomiuri Land, this gorgeous new flower-filled Starbucks in Japan is easily accessible from central Tokyo and is not too far from Sanrio Puroland.

Read on to find out more about the greenhouse Starbucks at Yomiuri Land’s Hana Biyori!
Yomiuri Land is a lesser-known theme park in Tokyo with roller coasters, a water park, go-karting and more. Hana Biyori, a flower park, is its latest addition which only opened in March 2020 - a tranquil alternative for those who don’t enjoy thrill rides.
The Starbucks within is clearly visible from afar - spot a sleek greenhouse amid a sea of rainbow-hued flowers and that’s where you want to be.
Upon stepping in, you’ll be met by the sight of flower obs hanging from above.
All the greenery and blooms you see here are 100% real, even the huge “Starbucks” sign. As far as Starbucks outlets in Japan go, this is the first of its kind.
It’s also home to an 8-metre aquarium, teeming with colourful saltwater fish and corals. This certainly brings additional tranquility to the already-calming cafe.
In true minimalist Japanese fashion, the Starbucks at Hana Biyori is furnished with plenty of wooden tables and chairs - which allows the vibrancy of the flora to stand out even better.
There are also glass tables with live ferns and flowers, thanks to special fittings for pots of soil and vials of water.
With wide glass windows, this Starbucks outlet has plenty of natural light streaming through, and a stellar view of the surroundings. Visit during Spring and you’ll get to see the cherry blossom trees outside in full bloom! It can’t get any more romantic than this.
At night, the aquarium will be lit up in a neon glow.
Speaking of glowing lights, make sure you catch the projection mapping show, which will have the entire place lit up like a scene from Avatar. The digital art projections blend with the flowers and greenery to create breathtaking scenes that you can interact with. Find the show schedule here.
Other highlights at Hana Biyori include outdoor flower fields, otter-feeding sessions, a sky observatory, and daily terrarium workshops.
To enter the Starbucks here, you’ll first have to get admission tickets to Hana Biyori itself at JPY1,200 (~S$15.58) for adults and JPY600 (~S$7.79) for children. But that’s just a small price to pay for all the beauty you’ll get to experience!
Hana Biyori is 1 hour away from Shinjuku and Shibuya in Tokyo via public transport, and less than 40 minutes from Sanrio Puroland.
