A Rare Blue Moon Will Appear In Singapore On Halloween, 31 October 2020
You know that phrase, “once in a blue moon”? Other than referring to something super rare, it also applies to the natural phenomenon of a literal Blue Moon, which is pretty darn hard to come by.
A couple of months after a rare Strawberry Moon, there will soon be a Blue Moon emerging in Singapore’s skies, specifically on 31 October 2020 - conveniently adding to the whole spirit of things for Halloween revellers. It is reported that there won’t be another Halloween Blue Moon for the next 19 years, so this is a sight you don’t want to miss.

Science lesson time: A Blue Moon is the second full moon that happens in a given month, which isn’t a common sight. The first full moon of October will happen on the 2nd in Singapore, and it’ll be a cute lil’ Micromoon or Minimoon - which is when the moon is farthest away from Earth.

The last time a Blue Moon occurred on Halloween was 19 years ago in 2001, and the next one after this will only be happening in 2039. Time to prepare your witchy and ghoulish getups, and get ready for tons of spooky photos against the grand orb in the sky!

Despite its name, a Blue Moon isn’t exactly blue in colour. However, it might appear to have a blue-ish tinge depending on your location and the amount of dust in the air.
