Based on its name, you might expect the Strawberry Moon to be pink or red in colour, but that may not necessarily be the case. The moniker came about mainly because this phenomenon happens during the peak strawberry harvest season in America.

However, if you’re lucky enough, you might still catch it with a slight pinkish tinge, depending on its position and where you’re viewing it from. For this, the Strawberry Moon is also known as the Rose Moon.

Some also call it the Honey Moon, and this is where the term “honeymoon” is believed to originate from, as people used to drink honey mead during weddings in June.

The Strawberry Moon will be happening on 6 June in Singapore. Specifically, the full moon will occur at exactly 3.12am, according to the moon phase report. You now have a legitimate reason to stay up all night watching your K-dramas or playing computer games - but don’t get too absorbed such that you miss it!

Not to worry if you happen to sleep through the optimum period, as the Strawberry Moon is said to last for around 3 days. However, the best time to catch it would probably be when it’s at its brightest, so get your camera ready and gear yourself up for a long night ahead.

Now that’s one wholesome way to spend your Friday night while waiting for clubs and bars to reopen.
