Crazy cat lady who loves afternoon tea, kawaii Japanese fashion, and all things Sanrio.

There was a time where different brands from Wall’s to Xing Fu Tang were rushing to hop onto the bubble tea ice cream bandwagon. But now, the pink craze is slowly taking over, especially after Magnum’s Ruby ice cream proved to be a hit.

If you love pink and all things sweet, here’s something new in Singapore that’ll excite you: the Cornetto Love Daifuku ice cream that’s inspired by Japanese flavours.

If you haven’t already guessed from its name, Cornetto Love Daifuku comes with chewy mochi bits. That aside, it’s topped with crunchy red bean cookie sprinkles, which brings added flavour and texture to the whole ensemble.

Its packaging is clearly Japanese-inspired, with images of Japanese cranes, wave motifs, and what looks to be kimono print patterns adorning it. The name of the product is partially written in kanji, and this wording is printed on an omamori charm label.

The ice cream itself is strawberry-flavoured, which explains its pretty pale pink shade that makes it perfect for that #foodigram photo.

Peel away the paper wrapper and you’ll find that the cone is also in a reddish-pink shade to match.

Adding on to the whole Japanese charm of this dessert is how the circular disc covering the top of the ice cream comes in various designs that mimic good luck charms. Bless yourself with “luck”, “success”, and “love” - or pick one to give a friend to express your well wishes.

The Cornetto Love Daifuku ice cream is coming to Singapore’s 7-Eleven outlets on 4 September 2020. Prices have yet to be announced - we’re guessing they’ll be similar to that of Cornetto’s Black Hojicha ice cream.
