If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll want to get in on the newest Korean food trend that is fat macarons - also known as fatcarons or ddungcarons - with extra filling. Some local bakeries have already hopped onto the bandwagon, so we can now enjoy these in Singapore too!

Fat macarons are not supersized macarons - they do use the same small circular meringue biscuits as regular ones. The only difference? Their stuffing is EXTRA THICC and more than filled to the brim.

What you’re getting here is essentially double, triple, or perhaps even quadruple the amount of icing - making for an extra creamy, extra indulgent dessert. Depending on the bakery, you might even find little goodies nestled within, such as mini Kit Kat bars or Ferrero Rocher balls - as seen on Singapore-based Whites Bakery’s page.

Another local bakery you can look to for Korean fat macarons is Nana Tang Bakes. Some of their more unique creations include fillings like durian mochi, jelly, and...ham and cheese?! Now that will certainly be interesting to try.
