This New Wearable Aircon Device By Sony Japan Will Keep You Cool In Singapore’s Heat
Japan is notorious for its insane Summer heatwaves which go over 40°C. We don’t experience such high temperatures here in Singapore - as of now, at least - but being smack in the middle of the equator, it’s pretty much Summer all year round.
To beat the heat, Sony Japan has come up with Reon Pocket, an innovative new wearable aircon device that can be slotted into your clothing. Sony Singapore has yet to stock it, but there are still ways to order this online if you can’t wait for your next Japan trip.
Read on to find out more about Sony’s Reon Pocket and how you can get it in Singapore!

Reon Pocket is a pocket-sized device that can lower your body temperature by 13°C or raise it by 8.3°C. Of course, no sweaty Singaporean in their right minds would want to turn up the heat here, but this will be a handy feature to have during your Winter travels abroad.

You’re meant to slot the Reon Pocket into a little inner pocket of a specially designed t-shirt, which you’ll have to purchase separately. It’s made from an absorbent material and comes in basic colours of white and beige.

The tee can also be used as innerwear underneath a business shirt, with the device hidden from view. Well, almost, save for a bump at the back of your neck which might get mistaken for a hunch.

If you’d rather not cramp your style, Reon Pocket can also be handheld, like any other portable fan. Simply hold it up to your neck if you need some quick relief from the scorching heat.

This mini machine has its own mobile app, which you can use to control the temperature to your liking with just a few taps.

There are 5 modes - “auto” will instantly adjust the temperature based on your body heat and activity, and “my mode” gives you the option to add a timer. Of course, there’s also a “manual” mode, where you can pick from 4 temperature levels yourself.
Do note that Reon Pocket isn’t waterproof and should not be used during strenuous exercise or be exposed to wet environments.

Reon Pocket costs JPY12,760 (~S$165.38) while the t-shirt costs JPY1,980 (~S$25.66). You can get it at stores in Japan such as Tokyu Hands, BicCamera, and Amazon. If you can’t wait till your next trip to Japan, make use of a third-party shipping service like Vpost, or join the existing request list on Airfrov.
