Sometimes, just changing the layout of your room can make it feel brand new again! To save energy, measure your furniture and plan it out on a piece of paper before you actually start to move (or make your poor boyfriend/husband move) the heavy furniture around.

If your room is big enough, you can even add curtains or other hanging decor to demarcate zones for sleeping, resting or working.

#2 Follow a fixed colour palette and style

The bedroom is ultimately a place for you to rest and you can't do so if there are just too many colours and patterns around! Stick to a colour palette of two to three main colours and accent it with two colours. Decorate your room according to your colour palette and you will find that your room looks much more organised than before.

#3 Change your bedsheets

If you are still using cartoon bed sheets from your primary school days, it's time to get new sheets! Your bed is probably the biggest furniture in your room so you can set the tone of the room with the colour and pattern of your bed sheets. Make sure you still stick to a colour palette as suggested in #2 for a more cohesive look.

#4 Add personal touches

Make your bedroom your little sanctuary by adding personal touches here and there! Add a plant if you love greenery, fill your room with posters or add fluffy cushions at every corner of your room. If you are not sure about how to beautify your bedroom, you can consider these wall decor ideas and these home decor ideas.

#5 Marie Kondo your items

Sometimes, your room gets over-cluttered with so much stuff that it loses its identity. Get rid of things you do not need and find storage space for all the stuff you have. One good way to store your stuff is to make use of the wall and hang your clutter up! Shelves, racks and other storage units are great ways to keep your room less cluttered.

We promise, your room will look brand new if you follow our tips! Start the new year with a bang by redesigning your bedroom into your little sanctuary!
