This Couple Takes "An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away" Literally
This couple is taking "An apple a day" a little too literally. Their story went viral for claiming that their all fruits diet led to their perfect health.
Tina Stoklosa, 39 from Poland and her fiancé first discovered the fruitarian diet when she was looking for a pre-Christmas cleanse five years ago.
Tina said, she quickly found she had more energy, describing how she also felt happier and noticed that she looked younger. Two years later, she moved to Bali so that she could focus on her diet without any influence from the western world. That is also where she met her fiancé, Simon Beun, 26 from Belgium.
They moved from the states to Bali because tropical fruits are widely available over there.
From jackfruit to durian, you name it, they have tried it all. They claim to look and feel younger. For Tina, who used to battle with bulimia and anorexia, she said, "I have never felt better."
However, is a 100% fruit diet really for you?
While fruits are rich in vitamin C and anti-oxidants, experts say it can lead to nutritional deficiencies in vitamin B12, calcium, vitamin D, Iodine and Omega 3 fatty acids. Besides, everyone’s body is different. Some may lose weight over an all fruits diet while others may gain weight due to the high sugar content.
Dietician, Ms Shweta Singh from Nutrition matters SG discourages this diet saying that, “Fruit is pure carbs, minimal protein and fat. Both are essential for health and survival.”
As for Fad diets nowadays, she advised. “Don't fall for exaggerated diet claims, you cannot verify the truth.”
What do you think of this diet?
