When your palate can't decide if it's craving Asian or Western desserts more, you can satiate both at once at MIMMO Bakery. Founded by Chef Domenico "Dom" Giammarella, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained pastry chef, this bakery serves up treats that blend Hong Kong flavours and traditional French and Italian pastries. After a successful pop-up in Hong Kong, MIMMO Bakery has arrived at our shores with a bakery cafe at Asia Square Tower 1.

The must-try, and pride and joy of Chef Dom, is the Egg Tart ($4). It has the delicate and flakey crust of a Portuguese egg tart, almost buttery like a croissant, with the smooth, light and subtly sweet custard of a Hong Kong egg tart. The filling also doesn't have a strong eggy taste, so it feels like a guilt-free treat we can easily wolf down.

The Tiramisu ($12) is a classic done right with mascarpone, Italian espresso-soaked ladyfingers, but MIMMO Bakery also put a little spin on it with hazelnuts for flavour and texture.

A more experimental one is the Milk Tiramisu ($7) that's made with Hong Kong milk tea. Other crowd-favourites are the Pistachio Bolo Bao ($5), Croissant aux Amandes ($6++) AKA almond croissant and Apple Croissant ($5++) that has thin apple slices arranged in a flower shape.

Something the kids and young and heart will adore is the Tigres ($2++), a French almond cake. This version has a caramel centre instead of the traditional chocolate filling, and it's speckled with the inexpensive kind of chocolate chips (the Chef's words, not ours) to recreate the experience of enjoying mum's homemade treats.

These pastries are also available as an all-day $8 set with a choice of beverage.

The bakery also offers a variety of artisanal cakes like the Mango Charlotte ($7++ per slice; $68 for whole), Opera ($6++ per slice, $45 for whole) and Matcha Raspberry Cake ($7++ per slice, $40 for whole).

On weekends, MIMMO Bakery Singapore will serve a specially curated brunch menu including Italian Club Sandwich ($18), Crème Brûlée Croissant French Toast ($22) and Banana Foster Pancakes ($20), alongside a Build-Your-Own Pasta Bar.
