You Can Now Try Netflix’s Zumbo Desserts In Singapore At This Durian-Themed Afternoon Tea
For those who aren't familiar with Adriano Zumbo, he’s basically the Willy Wonka of Australia. But if his name rings a bell, it’s probably because he’s the mastermind behind the Netflix series Zumbo’s Just Desserts, where his wild, colourful and over-the-top creations wowed (and sometimes terrified) contestants. His famous Zumbarons (quirky-flavoured macarons) even started a dessert craze back in the day. And now, Zumbo’s treats have finally landed in Singapore with a uniquely local twist: durian!

Happening at The Lobby Lounge, Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel Singapore, this limited-time high tea is super whimsical and perfect for anyone who loves a bit of creativity in their sweets.

To start with, these treats are served on a huge ferris wheel-shaped dessert stand. Sadly, the ferris wheel does not actually turn, but this design is definitely quite novel and different from the usual multi-tiered dessert stands!

We started with savouries like the Durian Egg Tart, Durian Sticky Rice with Sakura, Ebi Durian Croissant with Caramelised Walnut and Durian Savoury Tartlet. Most of them incorporated durian masterfully, with the durian croissant being a standout for its flaky pastry and moreish flavour. Meanwhile, the sticky rice was doing a bit too much and had quite a confusing texture overall.

As for the sweets, the Durian Cream Puff was an obvious winner and left us wanting seconds (and thirds)! Soft, generously filled with durian, and with just the right amount of sweetness, this one was a real joy to try.
Other highlights include the Pandan Durian Mousse Cake, Mini Durian Popsicle (which is actually shaped like a mini ice cream!), Coconut Durian Macaron, and Durian Mochi, which really satisfied our sweet tooths without being overly cloying.

Not feeling full yet? Fill up on the Coconut Scone with Durian Cream and Strawberry Jam, which was the perfect middle ground between crumbly outside and fluffy inside. Plus, it is served while still warm!
To pair with the food, the set includes two Zumbo-inspired cocktails. True to his style, these taste sweet and tangy and look colourful and playful. The set also comes with free-flow coffee or tea, so you can sip to your heart’s content.
