His parents was also there to cheer him on at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena. "I'm happy to have them here. They are not young anymore so it's good that they are able to enjoy a lot more things than they did in the past when they were taking care of us," Loh told reporters after.

Loh has achieved a new milestone by reaching the top 16 in the Olympics for the first time. He’s also the first Singaporean men's singles player to advance this far since Ronald Susilo in 2004, who made it to the quarter-finals.
"I've never made it to the knockout rounds. So I think it's an achievement," said Loh.
"Hopefully I'll be able to go for more rounds. Every game going forward is a game closer to a medal."
Loh will play his next match on 1 August. He'll face off against China's Li Shi Feng, who is ranked sixth in the world.
Fellow badminton player, Yeo Jia Min, also got into the round of 16 on 30 July, defeating Mauritius' Kate Foo Kune with scores of 21-12 and 21-6. She will be up against Japan's Aya Ohori on 1 August as well.
