It's no exaggeration to say that ANTI:DOTE at Fairmont Singapore has become synonymous with beautiful and innovative high tea sets — after all, who could forget their stunning Van Gogh-inspired selections from earlier this year? This time, they've partnered with ARTiSTORY and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston to create a Claude Monet-themed high tea experience!
These limited-edition afternoon tea sessions feature sweets, savouries and beverages based on the French painter's most famous works. Read on to check out our review of this artistic afternoon tea session!

Upon entry, visitors are greeted by a photo wall featuring an artpiece from the renowned Water Lilies series, as well as other artworks and trivia on the artist's life. Those who prefer a more laidback atmosphere will enjoy the dining area located just beyond, which is elegantly furnished with a rather private feel — thanks to the red velvet curtains and shelves partitioning it from the outside.

Once you've gotten comfy, it's time to meet the star of the afternoon tea menu: an elegant three-tiered box holding all the freshly made treats, chocolates and scones inside. It's a good idea to come with an empty stomach, since there are over 12 individual items to munch on!

According to the staff at ANTI:DOTE, it's recommended to start with the savouries, followed by the amuse-bouches, sweets, and chocolates, before finishing off with the freshly baked scones. Among the savoury items, the Tomato Concasse with Kalamata Olive and Olive Caviar and ASC Certified Smoked Trout with Dill Cream Cheese and Kristal Caviar really stood out for their fresh and balanced flavours.

There are also two aesthetically pleasing amuse-bouche options, BBQ Carrot with Candied Orange Gel and Spring Roll Shell and a Cured Scallop with White Ponzu and Sudachi on Rice Cracker. While the scallop is by far the more interesting and delicious, the carrot dish is a great vegetarian alternative for those who have special dietary requirements.

And now for the most exciting part: the sweets! There are 7 varieties of highly Instagrammable sweet treats in the drawer, making it very fun to taste and identify each one according to the menu.

I was especially pumped to try the Raspberry Cream Cheese Macaron because of how stunning the hand-painted design looked, and it did not disappoint. The macaron is neither too sweet nor creamy and has just the right level of acidity from the raspberry to leave you wanting more. Those who enjoy gentle flavours will also love the Vanilla Tart with Apricot and Clafoutis — which brings to mind Monet's Bouquet of Sunflowers painting with its delicate and sunny bloom.

What's an afternoon tea session without plenty of great tea or cocktails? Choose between the Unstoppable Bloom, a blend made from yam shochu, elderflower and coffee with notes of honey miso and sesame, or The Farandole, a light concoction made out of shiso gin, lotus root, yuzu, lychee and honey beer.
Those who prefer a pot of good ol' tea can also pick from 5 TWG tea blends, which have been specially selected to pair with the afternoon tea menu items.
