ABARA: Luxury Handbag Brand Opens Its First-Ever Boutique In Singapore With Trendy Picks & Bespoke Services
Talk about luxury handbags and the longstanding big-name labels will first come to mind, but there’s a small but growing breed of newer entrants that are winning the hearts of the fashion-hungry. One that’s certainly not be overlooked is the Singapore-based ABARA, which has just unveiled their first-ever physical boutique located along Orchard Road after 2 years of running online since 2021.

One thing that sets ABARA apart from other high-end fashion brands? Everything is meticulously designed and made by hand right here in Singapore. While we often marvel at the fine goods by fashion houses in Europe, there’s no doubt about the fact that there’s always comfort in anything Singapore-made, as that too implies a certain level of quality, workmanship, and ethicality.

Speaking of which, ABARA prides itself on using environmentally-gentle leather that’s sustainably sourced from the same tannery that French luxury brands use. On top of that, their leather handbags are made to last - and this isn’t merely a casual blanket statement on long-lastingness. The brand actually follows through on this, with the promise that every handbag of theirs can be repaired and restored to its original condition in case of wear and tear.

It didn’t take us long to fall in love with ABARA’s arm candy upon visiting their flagship store at Takashimaya. One look and we knew that they were right in line with all the latest trends, with a wide range of styles including structured totes, hobo bags, and mini handbags.

One of their hot favourites this season is the Crescent Bag ($688) from their Afterglow 2023 collection, which merges the cuteness of a dumpling bag with the class of a circular silhouette. It’s available in four colourways - White, Off-White, Black, and the fuschia Passion that’s perfect for that Barbiecore look.

Another item that got us fawning was ABARA’s Keepie bag ($448), a petite piece that looks just as cute as it sounds. This is actually a “baby” version of the Keeps’ake ($588), a crossbody/shoulder bag that can also be carried as a clutch.

Ready-to-wear items aside, ABARA also offers bespoke services that allow customers to customise their very own one-of-a-kind handbags. Everything from the bag’s silhouette to the intricacy of stitching and even the type of leather - calf, crocodile or lambskin - can be chosen according to your preferences.
And if you’re wondering about the colourways available - the possibilities are practically endless, as the fabric can be dyed to any specific shade you desire. In fact, you can even opt for special effects such as marble patterns and more!
