Korean-Style Candle Store In Town Has Cute Animal & Dessert-Themed Candles + Workshops At Reasonable Prices
Whether you enjoy basking in their calming scents as a form of self-care, or simply enjoy having them around as part of your room decor, candles are always a lovely addition to one’s home. Recently, Korean candles have been trending for their aesthetic appeal, where they come in cute animal- and food-themed designs.
While there may be multiple online shops selling such Korean-style candles, Miyo Candle is probably the first and only physical Korean candle store and studio in Singapore. Not only can you purchase their adorable creations in person, you can also sign up for their candle-making workshops as a fun date activity.

Miyo Candle started out with humble beginnings as a small home business, born right in the height of the pandemic in 2021. A former SIA air stewardess who’s fluent in Korean, founder Miyo first began selling her handcrafted candles online, and later on branched out to host online candle classes too.

Eventually, her business expanded to the point where she thought it was time to open a proper studio - a conducive space where she could hold her classes in person.

Miyo Candle’s studio store thus opened its doors in January 2023, a short 2-minute walk from Clarke Quay MRT station. Mainly furnished in white and neutrals, and cosily decorated with vases of flowers, plushies, and of course, a ton of candles, this relaxing nook is pretty much the epitome of the Korean room aesthetic - and it’s sure to put you in the right headspace for some therapeutic candle craft!

Despite her current success, Miyo still operates this labour of love as a one-woman show, which means you’ll get nothing but the most attentive and personalised service from none other than the owner herself. As for her candles, everything is still personally made by hand rather than outsourced or mass-produced.

Miyo Candle’s wares can also be purchase online via her website. Prices vary based on size and complexity of design, starting from slightly over $10 for smaller pieces and going up to the high $30 range for more elaborate ones. Customisation options are also available, and if there’s nothing that catches your fancy, you can always send her a message to request for a specific design of your liking.

As per the Korean candle trend, her most popular designs are those that involve animals or desserts - or a combination of both. From cupcakes bears, to rabbit-shaped macarons, and vintage-style piped cakes with 3D critters on them, all her food-inspired work is so hyperrealistic that it looks good enough to eat.

You might have a hard time putting flame to wick simply because of how pretty the candles are, but that’s alright - you don’t necessarily need to use them, and can let them sit on your desk or shelf as a display piece if you prefer.
