A Huge New Hello Kitty Resort With Theme Park, Hotel, Eateries & Retail Stores Will Be Opening Soon In Asia
Theme park enthusiasts have much to look forward to, with the new Harry Potter theme park in Japan, and the European-style Lotte’s Magic Forest in Korea both in the process of being built. Closer to home, we have the upcoming Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore, a fresh new zone with 3D rides, themed eateries, and merch stores.
Other than the existing Sanrio Puroland in Tokyo, there’s another new spot that fans of Hello Kitty can put on their lists: Sanya Hello Kitty Theme Park Resort, located along a coastal area in China.

If you hadn’t previously had China on your travel bucket list, perhaps the Sanya Hello Kitty Theme Park Resort will change your mind. Appearing to span across hectares and hectares of land in its mock-up images, the resort is set to have not just an amusement park, but also a themed hotel, as well as eateries and retail stores. Basically, it’ll be its own little world of Sanrio for an all-inclusive experience.

One thing we’ve noticed from the artist's impression images is that the theme park seems to be split into different zones, each depicting a different country. What we’ve spotted so far include a European-style street full of flowers, an exotic jungle-esque oasis with a Badtz-Maru tiki hut, as well as a mini Egypt with Hello Kitty as the Great Sphinx, and hanging lanterns shaped like the heads of Sanrio characters.

Sanya Hello Kitty Theme Park Resort is located along Haitang Bay, a coastal area in Hainan province in China - perhaps that means it’ll come with sea views as well! It’s slated for completion in 2024, and the Hello Kitty hotel as part of the resort is set to be the very first of its kind in the country.
