Hello Kitty, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon are the usual suspects when it comes to character-themed hotels in Japan. There’s even a Sanrio hotel in Okinawa with a whopping 66 themed rooms featuring 8 classic favourites including My Melody, Little Twin Stars, and Pochacco.

Unlike many of her other Sanrio counterparts, Cogimyun is not an animal. She’s actually a wheat flour spirit that wants to be a rice ball, which explains her white colouring and soft, fluffy appearance. She’s said to have a pure, innocent character that very much matches her look.

Despite being one of the lesser-known Sanrio characters, Cogimyun came in 10th place in the 2021 Sanrio Character Ranking - her first time in the top 10, and a sign of her growing popularity.
Capitalising on this, Hotel New Otani in Tokyo has come up with the cutest Cogimyun-themed hotel rooms which come with Sanrio wall decor and bedding, pink curtains, and kawaii cuddle pillows shaped like the character.

One of the best parts of the hotel stay, other than the dreamy interiors, is the free goodie bag you’ll receive. This includes 5 pieces of exclusive limited edition merchandise, namely: A fluffy hairband, compact mirror, mini tote bag, bedroom slippers, and an acrylic stand which you can use to slot notes or cards.

Hotel New Otani is located in the Akasaka area of Tokyo, just a 3-minute walk from Akasaka-Mitsuke station, and only 15 minutes away from Shinjuku via public transport.
Room prices for this Sanrio themed experience start from JPY60,000 (~S$705) for 2 people. That works out to slightly more than $350 per person, but hardcore Sanrio fans would consider this a worthy splurge, especially with that generous amount of freebies involved.
