The Singapore Star Awards 2021 just happened last Sunday night on 18 April 2021, and for the first time ever, this star-studded event was held at Changi Airport - with the airport tarmac transforming into a Walk of Fame fashion runway for our local celebrities to strut their stuff on.

The ceremony itself had the stars split across various locations in the airport - includingJewel Changi’s Rain Vortex, T4 transit area, and boarding gates - while seated in individual armchairs.

But it seems like netizens were more excited about the fashion lewks served up at the glitzy event, rather than who won which awards. Here are X celebrities who stole the show at Singapore Star Awards 2021, from the elegant and classy, to the downright bizarre.

#1: Elvin Ng

We’re kicking off this post with the most talked-about dude of the night: Elvin Ng. Many have likened his pink and red suit set to bandung, and he good naturedly posted a selfie of him sipping on that very drink this morning, with the caption “Fashion also means not taking ourselves too seriously, and having a sense of humour. Craving for #bandung last night, I wonder why.”

We’d also like to bring your attention to this gem posted by local meme page, @yourgirlfriendiswhosia - they said it, not us!

With the attention surrounding this outfit, it seems like people have almost forgotten about his recent spats with Taiwanese actor Patrick Lee, and fellow local actor Dasmond Koh...

#2: Chantalle Ng

Adorned with 3D multicoloured flower petals on the bodice, Chantalle Ng’s powder blue Jessica Cindy gown with long mesh sleeves is all our childhood Barbie fantasies come to life.

Fans went crazy over this runway shot where she was walking hand-in-hand with her “My Star Bride” co-star Xu Bin, but our favourite photo of her from the night has to be the one where she’s seen posing with her mother, actress Lin Meijiao, who looks the epitome of sophistication in a white pantsuit. Too sweet!

#3: Fann Wong

We’d call Fann Wong’s look, “The Little Mermaid, red carpet edition”, as it comes with blinged-out seashell-shaped boob cups and starfish motifs sewn on using beads and sequins.

A frilly hem reminiscent of sea anemones adds a fun, girly flair to the edazzled getup.

#4: Kym Ng

While other stars were posing in front of parked airplanes, Kym Ng took things up a notch and made sure she fit the airport/travel theme to a T with this wanderlust-inducing toga gown. Whether you love it or hate it, we must say that we applaud her on how she owned her unique and adventurous choice.

Anyway, sis here already has over 20 showbiz trophies proudly on display in her home, accumulated over the course of more than 2 decades - with one more added to the collection as of yesterday. When you’re that much of a successful veteran, you know you can dress however you please.

#5: Felicia Chin

Subverting gender norms, Felicia Chin showed up looking real sharp in a suit and pants. This is topped off with metallic silver and black heels for a little touch of femininity, while her natural-looking makeup gives her a youthful vibe.

#6: Ye Jia Yun

With soft pastels of mint, blue, and yellow juxtaposed against a structured material, newcomer Ye Jia Yun’s gown is a sweet and dreamy one that suits her girl-next-door look. This might just be one of our fave looks of the night!

#7: Glenn Yong

First things first, it’s never easy pulling off funky hair colours, but we think Glenn Yong seems to have done it well - oppa vibes, much? In line with the whole blue colour theme, he’s donned a periwinkle blue suit and pants set, which helps bring out the vibrancy of his turquoise locks.

This is certainly a welcome change from the usual black, grey, or navy suits that guys usually wear, and we love how he didn’t have to rely on gaudy prints in order to stand out from the crowd.

#8: Zoe Tay

The asymmetrical bodice of Zoe Tay’s gown with oversized bow detail is a head-turner from afar, and the floral skirt streaming behind her in the wind certainly makes for a pretty picture.

We’re not sure about the size of the prints, though - perhaps they’d remind us a little less of our mum’s pasar malam bedsheets if they were dantier. Still, Ah Jie has nailed her runway poses and is glowing confidently in all her shots!

#9: Foo Fang Rong

Fresh-faced Foo Fang Rong stuns in this emerald green Milla Nova gown that billows out behind her in a cascade of tulle. Despite the plunging mesh neckline, and a thigh-high slit that reveals metallic embellished Jimmy Choos, there’s nothing risque about her outfit - it’s a picture of sophistication.

#10: Desmond Tan

Desmond Tan has bravely broken the rules of fashion by matching prints on prints with even more prints...and it’s all the same print, no less. We’re not entirely sure what this Alexander McQueen getup is supposed to convey - it kinda reminds us of tie-dye or distressed denim.

Well, at least he looked like he was having a ton of fun, we gotta give him that. 10/10 for self-assuredness! #youdoyou

#11: Carrie Wong

Carrie Wong’s shimmery gown is a real stunner - everything from the plunging neckline to the neutral hues and heavy dose of sparkle makes our eyes twinkle. A blingy necklace and pair of earrings are the finishing touch to the look. She’s looking like a real princess here!

#12: Priscelia Chan

Keeping it understated and classy is Priscelia Chan in a structured black and white mermaid gown. The dress hugs her in all the right places, with curved lines and colour blocking along the waist giving an illusion of a slimmer silhouette. A slicked-back hairstyle helps open up her features, giving her a fresh appearance that looks years younger than her actual age of 42 years!

Perhaps accessorising with a necklace would have completed the look better. Nevertheless, this has gained our seal of approval.
