Mediacorp is the epitome of Hollywood in Singapore. You would think that anyone who becomes an actress there would never leave but nope, reality is full of surprises.

Earlier this month, we shared that Jayley Woo has left Mediacorp and would be pursuing new opportunities in China. It remains a fact but what she wants to do is actually go to school- acting school.

Learning about her elder sister’s month-long acting school stint in Taiwan reignited her drive to expand her horizons and learn more about her craft and start doing things she really want to do.

I am serious about acting and I hope to attend classes for it. I’ve been learning all these years via watching shows and am a self-taught actress, but I really want to learn more about the craft because what you learn by yourself is different from what you pick up at classes.

I really have an interest in acting and I hope to be in this line for a long time. If I want a long-lasting career, [I think] it’s time for to me to go to school.

In an interview with Toggle, Jayley says she will be enrolling in an acting school in Shanghai to hone her craft once filming for Jalan Jalan wraps in 2019.

Leaving Mediacorp's The Celebrity Agency is a "life-changing" and "emotionally-draining" decision and as a freelance actress now, it would mean no fixed pay check but thanks to the support of her elder sister and family, Jayley is convinced that it was the best option.

Having been in the industry since 2012, Jayley and her sister have fought hard to get to where they are today. From becoming a finalist at The New Paper New Face to having their own lines on the big screen; we pretty much watched them grow~

It's always heartwarming to see Singaporeans working hard to chase their dreams and we wish Jayley and her sister all the best! :)
