Previously, IKEA very kindly revealed their Swedish meatball recipe, which had been kept secret for a long time until recently.
And just yesterday, KFC shared an original recipe for a one-pan oyakodon - a Japanese-style rice bowl with fried chicken and egg. Of course, this is to be made with their delicious Original Recipe Chicken - but that just makes things easier as you won’t have to worry about handling raw meat.
Ingredients needed:
- 2 pcs KFC Original Recipe Chicken
- 1 bowl cooked rice
- 1 bowl water
- 1/4 white onion
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chicken stock
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 eggs
- Shredded seaweed (nori strips)

For your convenience, here are the steps listed out in text form:
1. Bring water to a boil
2. Add sliced onions, soy sauce, chicken stock, and sugar. Stir and cook for 2 minutes
3. Add KFC Original Recipe Chicken
4. Lightly beat eggs and drizzle all over. Cook on medium-high heat until egg is set but a bit runny.
5. Serve on top of rice with shredded seaweed.
It’s that simple! The entire procedure shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes and the best part is, the chicken is already cooked for you in KFC’s signature blend of secret spices.
If you prefer your meals a little fiery, feel free to add a dash of chilli flakes as toppings - or even experiment using KFC’s Hot & Crispy Chicken instead.
