Crazy cat lady who loves afternoon tea, kawaii Japanese fashion, and all things Sanrio.

We’ve seen tons of makeup trends over the past few years; Burgundy makeup, milk tea hair, and coloured eyeliner. But none will ever be as crazy as the Tiny Face Challenge, which is currently sweeping the internet by storm this 2020 while everyone is bored staying home in light of the COVID-19 situation.

In this makeup challenge, you’re supposed to draw a small mouth and nose on your actual nose, before covering your real mouth with a scarf - giving the illusion of a tiny face with disproportionately large eyes.

Popularised by YouTuber Jaime French who often puts a comedic spin on beauty videos, this look is obviously just for laughs - unless you’re game enough to wear it out.

You first start off by drawing a mini nose on your actual nose bridge, with the tip of the drawn nose stopping right above where your nostrils start. Contour and shade it to give some definition - just like how you normally would.

The fake lips will be placed below the little nose, with the upper lip along the tip of your nose, and the bottom lip right below your nostrils. Use your preferred shade of lipstick to fill them in - a bright red will stand out perfectly.

Finally, cover your actual lips with a scarf or turtle neck collar, and you’re all set to shock your family.

Tip: For better definition, use contour or brown eyeshadow to draw 2 vertical lines between the mini nose and mouth to create a cupid’s bow.

Tons of people all over the world have since recreated this look on Instagram and TikTok, with more hopping onto the bandwagon each day.

The most fun part is that unlike a sharp cat eye or cut crease, this look doesn’t require you to strive for perfection in order for it to work. Furthermore, results will vary quite differently depending on your natural features, so it’s always interesting to see how it turns out on different individuals.
