Most of us use video calls when working from home or to chat with our loved ones who are not living with us. It's only human for us to want to look good in front of other people, but life happens and sometimes we oversleep or simply don't know how to work with a camera.

Rather than waking up earlier to prepare for that video call with your boss or your boyfriend, here are some tips to help you look good in front of the camera under just 15 minutes.

Read on to find out more!

#1 Change into something comfy but presentable

First and foremost, change out of your PJs into something that is still comfortable but definitely way more presentable in front of the camera after washing up. Loungewear is a great option because you won't have to compromise comfort just to look good in front of the camera.

We have some loungewear recommendations that are comfy but still stylish enough for your work from home video calls.

#2 Put on light makeup for a natural look

If your colleagues or boyfriend is used to seeing you with makeup on, we suggest putting on light makeup to let your natural beauty shine through.

Use a cushion foundation which you can pat onto your skin quickly, then use your fingers to blend a cream blush on your cheeks, then fill in your eyebrows and lastly, apply a tinted lip balm to give your lips some colour. Do it fast and you will be done in less than three minutes!

#3 Style your hair

Your hair can make or break your look so make sure you style it for every video call! If you are too lazy, at least brush your hair so that it looks neat.

For those who want to put in more effort, try these youthful-looking hairstyles which you can accomplish under five minutes and some of them will require only about a minute!

#4 Look for a place in your home with natural lighting

Good lighting is extremely important for video calls! While you shouldn't do your video calls in a dark room, you shouldn't do it directly in front of the window too as harsh sunlight will hide your features and you won't be able to be properly seen.

So, the best way is to bring your laptop or phone around your house or bedroom and look for the a place with good lighting before settling down. Your face should be clearly seen and bright in the screen.

#5 Position your laptop/phone at a flattering angle

Just like how you would hold your phone at a higher angle when taking selfies, your laptop or phone should be positioned slightly higher than eye level when doing video calls. The theory behind this is so that your face appears slimmer.

Make sure not to place your laptop or phone at a low angle otherwise your double chin might peek through! ?

#6 Make sure your background is neat

This is also crucial especially for work from home video calls! Remain professional by making your background look neat and clutter-free. If you really have no time to clean up, the best way is by sitting in front of a white background.

#7 Correct your posture

Laying down on your bed when doing a video call is a big no-no especially for work video calls! Keep your posture in check even while sitting down.

Don't slump as that gives off a sloppy vibe. Try to sit with your back straight and your shoulders pulled back. Not only will it make you look better, it also benefits you by correcting your posture!
