Shell Yeah! Singapore’s New Oceanarium Is The Underwater Wonderland To Visit On Your Next Date
S.E.A Aquarium who? The newly revamped Singapore Oceanarium at Resorts World Sentosa has finally opened its doors to the public after three months of renovations — and all we can say is, you'll want to be part of this world for sure!
Not only does the upgraded space boast more Insta-worthy spots than ever (with a few places making us wonder if we somehow stepped through into an ✨AI-generated image✨ because yes, it looked that surreal), this next-gen ocean institute also manages to blends art, science, and sustainability with seriously immersive installations.

Fair warning, the Oceanarium is three times larger than it used to be, and will take up the better part of your day! Especially if you plan to snap loads of pics, shop for cute merch, and kick back and relax at the new marine-themed dining spaces inside. Here are some of the highlights to look out for on your visit:
New Entrance Plaza

From the moment we arrived at the Entrance Plaza, it's pretty clear that the aquarium has gone through a pretty big makeover. The enormous structures resemble sea waves and made us feel like we've walked into a giant shell.
Ocean Wonders

Before starting our tour of the Oceanarium, we were set on not getting stuck at any section for too long, but that thought quickly went out the window at the Ocean Wonders zone. This space is so photogenic, it contributed a good 50 images and videos to our phones!
Here, thousands of glowing jellies in different shapes and sizes float about in their tanks dreamily, so it’s like exploring an luminous dreamscape. Plus, you can glimpse moon jellies inside one of the world’s largest Kreisel tanks at the end.
Ancient Waters

Then there’s Ancient Waters, where life-sized prehistoric sea creatures like the fierce-looking Dunkleosteus (we reckon you’ll low-key impress your date when you pronounce that correctly) transport you back hundreds of millions of years. It’s dramatic, cinematic, and a bit like an ocean-edition of Jurassic Park!
Spirit of Exploration & Pier Adventure

Located next to the Explorer’s Nook cafe (more on that later), is the Spirit of Exploration area, featuring the full-scale replica of the Jewel of Muscat, a 9th-century Arabian dhow.

And above that is the Pier Adventure, a suspended web walk that’ll challenge your balance and your bravery. This fun space is the perfect adventure for the little ones (and young at heart). The course is designed to mimic the shape of an ocean wave, and will certainly make you feel like you're being tossed along the currents after a round of bouncing!
Singapore’s Coast

One of the coolest zones? Singapore’s Coast: an immersive, tranquil space that spotlights our own mangrove forests and native marine biodiversity. You’ll meet seahorses, sea stars, and get hands-on with interactive habitats (don't worry, there are a few well-kept sinks where you can wash your hands after handling the wildlife).

It’s a calming, earthy contrast to the glitzier tanks, and a reminder that marine magic exists right in our own backyard.
Open Ocean

The number 1 highlight? It has got to be the Open Ocean zone, where a 36-metre-wide viewing panel brings you up close with over 40,000 marine animals, including majestic reef manta rays, zebra sharks, and entire schools of fish moving in hypnotic patterns.

Besides the most popular (and largest) viewing panel, there are also additional rooms and alcoves to view the marine animals from. One new room even has a round 'skylight' where you can view the rays and sharks swim overhead! There are also plenty of seating spaces where you can rest your feet, or just sit and take in the wondrous views.
Whale Fall & Sea Mount

Then there’s the Whale Fall and Sea Mount gallery, where a life-sized whale skeleton shows how a single fallen whale can become an entire underwater ecosystem. This skeleton is so large, you can easily walk through it like it's a tunnel. Paired with immersive projections and soundscapes, this zone delivers a surprisingly emotional punch.
Quick Bites & Themed Nibbles

Hungry? There are a few adorable F&B spots here where visitors can enjoy on-theme food and drink options:
-
Tide Deli — A relaxed spot serving light meals and drinks with chill sea-inspired decor. Perfect for a quick snack on the go.
-
Explorer’s Nook — Located near the Spirit of Exploration zone, this marine-themed café is ideal for winding down with a sea salt caramel latte and a cute marine-shaped pastry.
Menus also rotate with seasonal ingredients and sustainable sourcing, so you can snack guilt-free while saving the sea.
Oceanarium Store

Instead of the generic exit-through-the-gift-store routine, we found the Singapore Oceanarium Store a fun space to visit even on its own. The experience leads visitors through a spacious, well-lit area where you can find everything from plush stingrays and orcas, to coral-inspired jewellery (we snatched up one of the pretty charm bracelets for just $15), and sustainable lifestyle goodies to limited-edition collabs with local artists.

Oh, did we mention that many of the marine animals are housed inside an enormous shark's mouth? Make sure to snap a Jaws-inspired pic on land while you're there!
Tickets to the Singapore Oceanarium are priced from $42 for Singapore Residents and $50 for Non-Residents.
