5 Fruity Recipes You Can Make For Both Baby Purées And Adult Smoothies

To all the new mothers out there, have you ever found yourself feeling a little clueless on what to do with the remaining fruits after making your little one's purées? Well, to help you with that, we have compiled a list of 5 fruity recipes both mother and child will love!

Kill two birds with one stone by using the same ingredients for your child's purée to make a smoothie for yourself. Not only do you maximise every fruit in your basket, but you also get an energising cup of smoothie. What's not to love when you get to eat a little cleaner and minimise food wastage?

#1 AVOCADO + BANANA

For babies aged 4 to 6 months, you'll need:
1/2 of a peeled and pitted avocado
1 small ripe banana
 

Mash the avocado half and mash the banana
Mix mashed avocado with banana & serve

For adults, you'll need:
1 Avocado, cubed
2 frozen banana, chopped
400ml milk
 

Combine avocado, banana and milk in a blender. Blend until smooth.
Serve immediately.
 

#2 BANANA + APPLE + PEACH

For babies aged 6 to 8 months, you'll need:

1 peach, pit & peel
1 apple, cored & peeled
½ ripe banana
1/4 cup of water
 

Dice apple & peach and simmer together in a small pot with water until tender.
Mash the banana into the apple & peach mix and then puree as needed.
 

For adults, you'll need:

180g natural fat-free yoghurt
340ml milk
3 bananas, sliced
1 apple, cored and sliced
2 peaches, stoned and sliced
 

Combine all of the ingredients, except the sugar, into a blender and blend until it reaches your desired consistency.
 

#3 MANGO + PEACH

For babies aged 6 to 8 months, you'll need:

3 peaches
1 mango
 

Peel, pit and cut peaches into chunks
Peel, de-seed and cut mango into chunks
Steam fruits together gently until tender if needed
Place in a blender/food processor and puree until smooth or mash with a fork and let baby try to use a spoon or her fingers.
 

For adults, you'll need:

1 1/2 cups almond milk
1 cup diced peaches, fresh or frozen
1 cup chopped mango, fresh or frozen
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup ice
 

In a blender, combine almond milk, peaches, mango, vanilla. Blend well.
Add ice and continue to blend until smooth. If it’s too thick, add a little more almond milk.
 

#4 BANANA + BLUEBERRY + YOGHURT

For babies aged 8 to 10 months, you'll need:

1 cup blueberries
1 whole banana
1 cup plain yoghurt
 

Use 1 cup of your already made blueberry puree OR Microwave the blueberries just until the juices start to run, about 30 seconds.
Place the banana, yoghurt and blueberries in a blender and puree until smooth.
 

For adults, you'll need:

1 cup blueberries, frozen
1 ripe banana
1 cup non-fat plain yoghurt
 

In a blender, combine banana, blueberries, and yoghurt.
Blend on high speed until smooth.
 

#5 KIWI MANGO

Kiwi-Smoothie-10

For babies aged 8 to 10 months, you'll need:

1 ripe kiwi, peeled & diced
1/2 ripe banana, peeled
1/2 ripe mango, peeled & diced
 

Mash all fruits together and then blend or puree as needed.
Make it creamy by adding yoghurt (optional).
 

For adults, you'll need:

4 kiwis, peeled
1½ cups ripe mango
½ ripe banana
2 cups coconut water
 

Add ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend till smooth.
