Heritage Hokkien Restaurant, Beng Hiang, Reopens At Shangri-La Singapore
Your grandparents or parents' idea of a fancy meal is likely quite different from yours. When the next special occasion rolls around, one restaurant that'll satisfy all parties and generations is Beng Hiang.
With nearly 48 years of heritage, the cherished Hokkien restaurant was founded by three Hokkien pioneers in a Chinatown shophouse, later expanding to Amoy Street and Xiamen Street, and relocating to Jurong East. Today, it reopens as part of Shangri-La Singapore, serving dishes that preserve time-honoured Hokkien recipes as well as new menu additions in a plush setting as expected of the hotel.

Beng Hiang at Shangri-La Singapore has quite an extensive menu consisting of Hokkien classics, appetisers, nourishing soups, exquisite seafood dishes, and desserts.
When in doubt, you can't go wrong with the signatures, starting with Beng Hiang's Hokkien Noodle ($22). It's no ordinary Hokkien mee, with springy noodles braised in a flavour-packed pork bone and prawn broth, finished with assorted seafood and crispy pork lard.

Another must-try signature is the Crispy Five-Spice Pork Roll and Prawn Ball ($18), better known as ngoh hiang. These crunchy treats have a juicy and tasty centre - delicious on its own and dipped in chilli sauce.
