Chocolate fiends, afternoon tea lovers, and everyone in between, if you're on the lookout for a decadent dining experience, The Art of Chocolate afternoon tea at Conrad Singapore Orchard deserves a spot in your to-try list. Created in collaboration with Valrhona, this chocolate-themed afternoon tea affair features desserts, sandwiches and even risotto, all delicately infused with cocoa.

Before the afternoon tea, diners get to enjoy a tea blending session and compose a personalised tea blend using Gryphon Tea Company tea leaves.

Once seated, diners are first welcomed with a chocolatey prelude: a luxurious, velvety hot chocolate and mini breadsticks with chocolate hazelnut dip.

With our sweet tooth piqued, we started feasting on the afternoon tea served on a classic three-tiered stand, accompanied by a choice of tea or coffee.

It includes a quartet of finger sandwiches that's almost too pretty to eat. Each sammie is made with vibrantly coloured bread and decorated with edible flowers, greens and cocoa nibs. And they taste just as good as they look!

The Cured Cucumber Sandwich is creamy, delicate and refreshing, while the Devilled Mimosa Sandwich is a refined egg mayo delight. There's also an indulgent Smoked Salmon Sandwich with Caviar and a scrumptious Smoked Roasted Chicken Sandwich in butter-soaked toasted bread.
After that, it's time for the traditional essentials: scones. Each set comes with two buttery and moist scones paired with four condiments: chocolate jam, strawberry jam, calamansi curd, and clotted cream.

The plain scone is a comforting treat, but our favourite is the chocolate-infused creation. Made with Manjari 64% Chocolate and candied orange zest, the chocolate scone is unsurprisingly not too sweet yet super satisfying.
That's not all for savouries! There's also a Locally Sourced Mushrooms Royale and Dark Chocolate Quiche served separately. It has a silky smooth texture with an earthy mushroom flavour and flaky chocolate crust that adds just a hint of cocoa goodness.

On the top tier are five beautiful sweet treats, each with different textures and its own unique chocolatey flair. The Raspberry Cremeux and Coco Biscuit is a cute cube-shaped Opalys 33% white chocolate mousse dessert. Something with a little more bite is the Roasted Buckwheat Mandola made with milk chocolate and Hukambi 53% for a sweet crunch. The Hazelnut Travel Cake made of plant-based chocolate, but you wouldn't know it!

There's also a Cremeux and White Miso Tart with a bit of matcha umami, and an uber-rich Vanilla Moist Layer Cake with Guanaja 70% dark chocolate.

Finally, a unique Sweet Risotto is served à la minute. This dessert is prepared with creamy risotto and citrus fruit, finished with mousse and chocolate. We chose dark chocolate which added a sweet-bitter depth to the risotto and contrast to the tangy fruit. There are two other flavours to choose from: raspberry or matcha.
