Have A Taste Of Colombian Art With This Botero-Inspired Afternoon Tea At Shangri-La Singapore
What would a painting taste like if it were edible? There's one way to find out: The Rose Veranda at Shangri-La Singapore has collaborated with the Fernando Botero Foundation to unveil a Botero-inspired Afternoon Tea.
Fernando Botero, one of Colombia's most celebrated artists, created paintings and sculptures with distinctive voluminous silhouettes, vibrant colours, and playful exaggerations. In his final years, the Maestro urged his eldest son, Fernando Botero Jr., to continue showcasing his work to the world, and so he did! Botero in Singapore has launched at the IMBA Theatre, at Gardens by the Bay. On top of that, there's even this dining experience inspired by his works.

To accompany the Botero-inspired afternoon tea, the hotel has also been Botero-ified with paintings and sculptures peppered across the lobby. Take some time before or after your meal to have a mini exhibition moment, waltzing around the elegant space and admiring the vivid artworks.

For a cute photo op that captures the whimsical spirit of Botero, look out for the BMW right outside the hotel entrance. This car has become a canvas for Botero's art in a playful manner where you can pose as if you're part of the painting!

And now comes the highlight of the afternoon tea - a main course! One that's sure to satisfy is the tender and buttery Manuka-Soy Glazed Cod. True to the Botero theme, it's artfully presented to resemble a paint palette complete with splashes of paint-like Kintoki Carrot Purée, Dill Essence, and Verjus Beurre Blanc.

Other main course options we love are the Slow-Roasted Wagyu Beef Bolar Blade, Pistachio-Crusted Chicken Roulade, and the vegetarian Slow-Roasted Glazed Vine-Ripened Tomato.
Finally, a tray of delicate little desserts will be served. Start with the light and fruity morsels like the Exotic Tropical Fruits Chutney and Orange Jaffa Financier. Treat your tastebuds to the velvety and sweet Mango Cheesecake Tacos , then end it off with the rich Cacao Tart.
