The cast also features Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Katy O’Brian, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Chad Coleman, Bryan Hibbard, Tony Cavalero and Gilbert Cruz.
Based on true events, Christy follows Christy Martin’s journey from a small-town girl in West Virginia to a boxing star. Sydney Sweeney plays Christy, who rises to fame under the guidance of Jim (Ben Foster), her trainer-turned-husband, while facing struggles behind the scenes.

In the trailer, Sydney says, “I think I’ve found my thing. I know most people go their entire lives, and they don’t even know what their thing is.” Later, Ben delivers a chilling line to her character: “If you leave me, I’ll kill you.”

Sydney trained with a boxing coach for months and even gained 30 pounds to fully embody the role. “I trained two to three times a day, every day, and then while I was filming, I trained as well.” she shared at TIFF, where her performance already sparked Oscar buzz.
