Fashion’s Favourite Film ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Is Officially In Production
Gird your loins, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially in production!
Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci are all returning to their iconic roles nearly 20 years later. Kenneth Branagh is also joining the cast as Miranda Priestly’s husband. Miranda, played by Streep, is still the tough-as-nails editor-in-chief of Runway magazine.

One original cast member who won't be returning is Adrian Grenier. He played Andy’s (Anne Hathaway) boyfriend, Nate Cooper, who the internet famously dubbed the “real villain” of the first film.

Disney’s 20th Century Studios confirmed the news with an Instagram teaser featuring some of the film’s most iconic lines:
“By all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me.”
“Can you please spell Gabbana,”
“I’m wearing Valentino for crying out loud.”
And of course, with two iconic devilish red pumps.
Filming will be taking place in both New York and Italy. David Frankel and Aline Brosh McKenna will be back to direct the sequel, with Karen Rosenfelt is also returning as producer.
There’s no official plot confirmed yet, but reports say that Runway is no longer the powerhouse it once was. The traditional magazine industry is fading, and Emily (played by Emily Blunt) is now a top executive at a luxury brand group that advertises in Runway. As for Andy, it’s still unclear how she’ll fit into the story, especially since she left the fashion world behind at the end of the first film.

The original film, based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2004 novel, made over $326 million worldwide. It is still one of the most iconic and quotable fashion films today.
Fun fact: The book was inspired by Weisberger’s time as Anna Wintour’s assistant at Vogue. Just last week, Anna Wintour announced she is stepping down after 37 years as editor-in-chief of American Vogue.
