Covering grey hair is not something that I’ve had to deal with (yet) but I’m well aware that it can be quite a chore for those who have to do so regularly. My mother has always lamented about how much of a hassle it is to make frequent trips to the salon. Over time, the cost of those visits adds up, which can be quite substantial. So when the opportunity to test Salon de Pro’s The Cream (a box dye formulated for grey hair coverage) arose, I convinced her to give it a shot.

I’ll have to admit that my mother was initially hesitant to dye her hair without the help of a professional. But she was quickly reassured because the instructions on the box were clear and straightforward — there was no room for error! We decided to turn it into a family affair by enlisting my father’s help with the application of the dye, which only took a few minutes.

Since the product comes in a fuss-free one-push bottle, there was no need to mix any solutions to get started. Pushing the nozzle of the bottle, my father first dispensed the cream on the convenient comb-and-brush that was provided. He proceeded to apply it, as thoroughly as he could, to my mother’s hair. Following the instructions closely, he combed her hair from the roots to the ends.
Then, we waited 15 minutes for the formula to work its magic. We were impressed by the odourless formula and relieved that we didn’t have to tolerate the unpleasant chemical smell that usually accompanies the hair dyeing process.

Salon de Pro’s The Cream also contains six treatment ingredients that promote the longevity of the dye and nourish your hair from the roots to the tips. The camellia and rosehip oil promote a glossy finish while the pearl extract, royal jelly, and hawthorn extract ensure that your hair remains hydrated. To top it off, the seaweed extract serves as a protective shield for your precious locks — you don’t have to worry about damaging them with harsh chemicals!

Here’s how my mother’s hair crown looked at the end of the entire process! She was pleased with the results and happy to know that from now on, she wouldn’t have to spend that much time or money to get her grey hair covered. Since she didn’t use all the cream in the bottle, we stowed it away in our cupboard — we’re all set for the next touch-up when the time comes.
