There's good reason to be envious of your pals who live in and around Queenstown, because Margaret Market — the newest communal space offering a variety of wallet-friendly local and fusion fare, a bistro bar and even a 24-hour gym — has officially opened its doors to the neighbourhood.

The two-storey market was converted from the old Commonwealth Avenue Wet Market & Food Centre into an air-conditioned space, which boasts wide and open seating areas, complete with hanging lights and indoor greenery for a bespoke boutique vibe.

As a champion of local businesses and community spirit, Margaret Market offers a variety of options when it comes to homely hawker fare, with vendors like WaWa Lala BeeHoon and Kou Kou Xiang Ji Tang Fan occupying the first floor of the market. On the second storey, there is a 24-hour GYMMBOXX outlet where fitness junkies can get a quick workout before grabbing a meal in the same building.

Looking for a place to catch up with friends over drinks and unwind after a long week? Margie is the swanky new neighbourhood watering hole you should check out.
Serving up tacos and sides with a local twist, this bistro bar has quick bites like the Salted Egg Tiger Prawn Tobiko Tacos ($8.90 per taco) on their menu, which works really well as a bar bite. There are also rice bowls available for those who want a heavier meal. Margie is located at #01-01.
Cu.Ra.Te

From the outside, Cu.Ra.Te looks just like your regular mini grocer. But not only are the seasonal fruits and vegetables here especially fresh, there are impressive, ready-to-eat fruit platters (seasonal prices apply) that you can grab to share with friends and family.
They also offer a juice-blending service where you can pick out fruit cups from the fridge and have them turned into a fresh juice on the spot! Plus, the whole process is really quick, which makes it perfect for those who want a healthy drink on the go. Cu.Ra.Te is located at #01-05.

The Homme Baker

Satisfy your cravings for baked treats over at The Homme Baker, the brick-and-mortar store of a formerly home-based business! The stars of the show are definitely their artisanal cakes, which come in unique concepts — like the cheese-shaped T&J Cheesecake & Chocolate Cake ($8.80/$9.80 per slice) inspired by Tom and Jerry cartoons. The Homme Baker is located at #01-08.
The Conservatory

Whether you're a proud plant mom or the owner of a black thumb, you'll want to stop by The Conservatory to check out all the different plants and flowers up for grabs. This quaint and (currently) unmarked store lets customers mix-and-match potted plants of their choice with a colourful ceramic pot and the recommended soil for that particular plant— there was a surprisingly wide range of different soil types available when we visited — all for $30 a pop! The Conservatory is located at the second storey entrance of Margaret Market.
