Held from 1 to 25 June at Bayfront Events Space, the festival will be a jolly good time for everyone from couples to friend groups and families. Think delicious street food, live music and activities like bouncy castles and claw machines!

Here's a peek at what you can expect there:

Activities at GastroBeats 2023

There's plenty to do at GastroBeats, including having a go at winning plush toys at claw machines and unleashing your inner child while jumping and sliding down 11 gigantic space-themed inflatables by Jumptopia.

If you're in for the live music, plan your trip there on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays when acts from indie bands to DJ sets will be performing.

Brands like Carlsberg and FoodPanda have their own dedicated zone with activities and Instagrammable opportunities. The bright and colourful DBS Zone caught our eye and we headed straight there to play the various games centred on practical themes of self-care, sustainable living and being future-ready.

A particularly fun game was 'Match Now!', where we would step from side to side or squat down to answer the quiz.

We also had a blast channeling celebrity energy while posing for the Glambot. Often used on the red carpets, this camera captures people in a cinematic, slow-motion video that's oh-so-cool.

DBS will be holding a social media contest inviting participants to post their Glambot videos on Instagram along with a creative caption about self-love. The three best entries will win an Apple Watch SE (worth $380) each.

With every game or activity completed, we were issued a stamp on our digital passport from the QR code provided. After collecting four stamps, we headed to the counter to redeem a tote bag and tumbler. These DBS-themed freebies are available while stocks last.

Food at GastroBeats 2023

GastroBeats will be home to 50 food vendors serving up trendy street food and popular Taiwanese, Thai, Korean and more dishes.

One of the highlights was the Baoderful Lotus Root Chips ($9.90), wafer-thin and crunchy lotus root slices that had the same satisfaction as munching on potato chips but none of the guilt.

Another favourite was the Wado Classic Rosti with Grilled Sausage ($12), a classic comfort dish served with sour cream. It also comes in spicy and cheesy versions.

If you're in the mood for quality meats, the DAMN stall is the one to make a beeline for. Their Dry Aged Beef Cubes ($25) had an umami, nutty taste that paired well with the fried garlic and pickles.

Korean fried chicken enthusiasts will be happy to know that more batter has set up a store at GastroBeats. We were fans of their juicy and crunchy Soy Garlic Fried Chicken ($7) as well as the Potato Balls ($5).

For some good ol' street food, you can go wrong with 2 NINJA 1 FATTY's Tornado Potato ($3) which comes in a plain version and with flavourings like mala and seaweed.

Another light bite worth trying is Mochi You Tiao ($6.90) by You Tiao Man. These deep fried snacks had a wonderful mix of crunchy and chewy textures.

Something for the 'gram is the Shiok! Rendang Beef Praffle ($17.90), which had baked praffles filled with US rib-eye beef cubes covered in rendang sauce.

Another food item that scored on presentation was No Time Hot Pot's mala soup bowls. Served in a cute tub with a cardboard crab carrier, No Time Anyhow ($23.80) was a hearty bowl of xiao la mala packed with ingredients like pork belly, meatballs, fried fish and broccoli.

We washed all that food down with Chagee bubble tea. Their fruit-based Glutinous Green Tea ($6.50) had a refreshing and uplifting glutinous rice aroma.

Finally, we ended our feast on a high note at RAINBOW WORKS. Their whimsical-looking Coco Lupa ($11.90) tasted as good as it looked. If you're as obsessed with coconut as we are, this is the drink to order.
