Childhood Horror Book Series Mr Midnight Has A Netflix Adaptation Premiering This October
Remember Mr Midnight? The wildly popular horror storybook series penned by James Lee (a.k.a. Jim Aitchison) that almost all ‘90s and ‘00s Singaporean kids practically grew up with? It now has a live-action adaptation coming to Netflix on 24 October, so you can finally watch those spooky stories you’ve been reading come to life, just in time for Halloween!

Titled Mr. Midnight: Beware The Monsters, the Netflix TV series tells the story of four teens who become paranormal detectives documenting their other-worldly adventures on a blog named Mr. Midnight.

Filmed in Batam, Indonesia for five months during the pandemic, the show includes a culturally diverse cast starring Singaporean actress Chen Yixin, daughter of veteran TV stars Edmund Chen and Xiang Yun, Malaysian actor Idan Aedan, and Australian actors Caleb Monk and Nikki Dekker.

Other familiar faces you may see on screen are Lim Yu-Beng and Firdaus Rahman, as well as Maxime Bouttier from the recently released movie, Ticket to Paradise.

The first season has 13 episodes, each lasting around 30 minutes. There is also a dedicated Instagram page up and running since late September, posting stills of the TV series as teasers as well as introducing each of the show’s main characters.
