With Mid-Autumn Festival (10 September) approaching, this is our PSA for you to start putting in your mooncake orders before they’re all snapped up! Spoilt for choice? From traditional baked mooncakes with a modern twist to delicate snowskin mooncakes in exciting flavours, we’ve got you covered with this list of pretty mooncakes that are great for gifting.

Read on for our pick of mooncakes to gift your family and friends this year!

Hock Wong

Disney Modern Shanghai Mooncake Gift Box, $36, Hock Wong. Photo from Hock Wong

If you or your giftee are die-hard Disney fans, then look no further than Hock Wong. Their traditional baked mooncakes come in 6 flavours - including chocolate, green tea and sweet potato lotus - and are adorned with the silhouettes of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, as well as Donald and Daisy Duck. But the main draw here for Disney fans is the gorgeous limited-edition packaging that these mooncakes come in, and here’s the best part - each purchase of the Disney Mooncake set from Hock Wong gives you a chance to win air tickets for two to Bali!

The Disney Love Destiny Mooncake Box ($32) contains 2 pieces of mooncakes, and when you open the box, the die-cut of iconic Disney couples Mickey and Minnie, or Donald and Daisy, will “meet” in the middle. How adorable! For the style-conscious, there’s the Singapore-exclusive Disney Modern Shanghai Mooncake Gift Box ($36), containing 2 pieces of mooncakes. It features Mickey and gang decked out in chic old-world Shanghai fashion, and the box itself features motifs such as button knots and traditional Chinese patterns. Take your pick from Mickey or Minnie Mouse (peony pink box) or Donald or Daisy Duck (royal blue box).

Fancy something that can be reused? There’s the Disney 3D Embossed Mooncake Tin Box ($58) - available in classic red or vintage black - which you can then repurpose as a lunch box, jewellery box or storage container! FYI, instead of 4 pieces of traditional baked mooncakes, you can also opt for Musang King snowskin mooncakes. What we’ve got our eye on, however, is the Royal Mickey Embossed Classic Duffle Bag ($108). It contains 6 pieces of traditional baked or snowskin mooncakes, and when you’re done, the duffle bag can be used for just about anything - be it a cute tote, a travel carrier or even a picnic basket!

Available at Hock Wong's retail store at 64 Pagoda Street and mooncake pop-up stores in Takashimaya, Vivocity, NEX, Northpoint and Tampines Mall. You can also place your order via Hock Wong’s online store here.

TWG Tea

This shiny gold snowskin mooncake from TWG Tea is sure to dazzle anyone who receives it, so definitely go for this if you’re trying to impress (perhaps your partner’s parents?).  Named Illumination, this mooncake is made with a smooth white lotus paste infused with TWG’s Immortal Moon Tea, so you’ll get a hint of the tea’s fruity and flowery notes. It is accompanied by white chocolate pearls and a white chocolate heart filled with mango confit.

Another one of our favourites this year from TWG Tea is Pure, a snowskin mooncake with a beautiful snow-white exterior. Inside, you’ll find an aromatic matcha-infused white lotus paste encasing a white chocolate heart filled with matcha ganache. Definitely a must-try for anyone who adores matcha! And of course, don’t forget to pair these mooncakes with TWG Tea’s Immortal Moon Tea, a blend of white and green tea leaves that carry the sweet fragrance of ripe berries.

TWG Tea’s Immortal Moon Tea Mooncake Collection will be available at all TWG Tea Salons & Boutiques from now till 10 Sep. Available in a set of two mooncakes paired with Immortal Moon Tea, $88; and a set of four mooncakes, $78.
